Remember telling everyone to pump the breaks on the seeding and top 10 talk? That's how I feel reading the complaints on the board about how bad we are.
In Chesney I trust. Onwards and upwards! Looking forward to the next game in two weeks from the best vantage point to watch a college football game in New England. Praying for Haskins. Feel for the kid. Hope he gets back out for us.
Go Cross Go! Our D is at least good enough for W&M without Yoder. We will be fine.

Team did what they needed to out in Lewisburg.
Bucknell is not an easy place to play.
-No fans or atmosphere -Terrible program -Just plain awful bus ride where the only thing to do is count dead deer
Stop complaining about a 28 point win. Games are 60 minutes long. Score after two or three quarters doesn't count.

Who said HC sucks? My comment was to post out that it was execution more than play calling. The fact HC lost to a superior Harvard team does not indicate HC sucks. I would be surprised if Harvard does not go undefeated. But, HC does not suck. Football has indeed come a long way under Coach Chesney & for this I am grateful. Possibly expectations of a national championship were a bit unrealistic. But, I am extremely proud of this team. HC does not remotely suck.

I don't think it's abandoning ship to say there are red flags on defense. The performance of the team is at odds with the expectations of having the #5 team.

Missing the down and distance graphics on the screen. 🤔😤 Fortunately, the chains were opposite the camera location, most of the time I could see them.

We are going to win this game…but this has been really discouraging by the defense. Not a championship caliber unit and I don’t see how that changes. The good: stopped them on 4th down 3 times, twice in short yardage situations. Forced an int (which was more the work of the pressure than the coverage, the guy just threw it up there and Spence was standing waiting for it) when a TD could have made it a one score game. The other good: worked some younger guys in there The (very) bad: many long completions. Very worrisome. The other bad: don't think they are doing the younger players any favors by all the shuffling in and out. Some plays looked like the kids were needlessly confused.

No one is saying we suck (I think)....just that we have seemed a bit off kilter the last couple of weeks: turnovahs, excessive penalties, questionable play calling, shaky D at times etc etc
Hopefully we can clean it up a bit for Lafayette.
Admittedly, we are getting a bit spoiled here....bitching about a 55-27win.

Two interesting numbers: ESPN had us as 29 pt favorites - so Bucky money pays off Attendance: 925 ! I wish Bucknell would fib a little and make it a 4 figure attendance - Most of our players have seen more than 925 at their PeeWee games
Regarding our overall performance, I'm always happy with a win but to be honest I was surprised that Bucknell moved the ball as well as they did. This open date is coming at a good time

In the PL conference re-alignment thread, one of my main sticking points is a geographic conference in New England or one in which there are two divisions--meaning a 6.5 hour ride to Bucknell every 4 or 5 years rather than every other year.
The start on D did not bother me too much as I have grown accustomed to sleepwalking through the 1st Q but one of their biggest plays, the TD run actually came from us overloading one side on a blitz. We did have some energy on D. I was actually impressed by our run D stepping up and the 4th down stops are encouraging. Seems to me even the Bucknell coaches know which corners to target and which receivers could burn them. I like Eli Thompson a lot. He has speed and makes good plays on the ball. I think the shuffling D line keeps us fresh, but shuffling the DB's can be confusing for the kids. There are however sometimes when that happens because of changing packages. In the 4th, we played some with 2 LB's and 5 or 6 DB's.
Only thing bothersome were the penalties, especially procedural ones from veteran players. After watching the replay on the Sluka dive for the marker and ensuing 15 yard penalty, I think it was very close and really can't fault Matt for his reaction. Late hits, etc I definitely wish we would eliminate. Can't give Laffy any gifts or gimmes.
Matt 19/28 258, 2 TDs, 122 yards rushing, Fuller 18-147-4 TDs, Coker 3-96-1. Our big guys came to play. Heck Matt had a career day yardage wise playing from behind at Harvard. Turnovers killed us. With this offense, we can be in any game even if it turns into a shootout against a Big Sky/Valley team. 574 yards of total offense!

Yes, due to the success of the program under Ches, many of us expect to obliterate all opponents!😂

In other news, why can't PL refs be like SEC refs. Show up at the game and ask which is the ranked team so every time the opponent crosses the line of scrimmage some laundry flies. For context, just watched the ending of Bama and A&M! It is in the PL best interest to keep us winning ha!

HC lost to Harvard because we had the anomalous 5 turnovers. I agree with what someone else posted earlier: if we played 10 times HC would win 8 games. The turnovers, very uncharacteristic of this team, cost us the game.

Maybe, but the last five times we played Harvard, how many times did we win? In those five games, one would have probably been pick-em. The other four we would have been favored. Multiply the record in those five games by two and that would give you a ballpark estimate of what the record would be if we played ten times. Seems to me 8-2 would be about right . . .

New season starts after bye. Go 1-0 against a 5-1 Lafayette team.
D Line - zero penetration. And when I say zero - simply watch the tape. We are young on D. But when you don’t create many turnovers and you don’t create negative Offensive plays it’s a very hard way to play D.

Last year things broke in HC's favor such as the wins over Buffalo, Lafayette and Fordham. This year's team is just as good but Lady Luck has been looking for her virtue back. Seeding talk was based on close plays like Sluka stepping out of bounds going our way again and not bunching a season's worth of turnovers in one game. If we had last year's luck we are undefeated now.
So we are still among many contenders Who. Could. Go. All. The. Way.

There are a few on this board who I would hate to be sitting next to watching a game. My goodness. Pay attention to college football. A lot of points are scored. Defensive units are generally inferior to the opposing offense. Our D is young and a bit banged up. We have one of the best offensive units in the country. We don’t suck. Get real🙄. It shows how far the program has risen. Some are evaluating the team with hopes and expectations of competing for a national championship. Defense is good enough to win the league. I don’t think it’s top ten in the country or national championship good. 100%. Our offense would be a good MAC offense and is a Top 10 "O" in FCS, I think. Our defense is probably an average FCS defense. We're young and could be very well be a scary matchup on that side ofnthe ball in a year or two. We're just not quite the ball-hawking blackshirt defense we had across the board in 2021 and 2022.

Well--Fordham appears to pretty weak. Lafayette looms as the team to worry about The CAA isn't picking up anymore when Fordham calls. Fordham is in the Atlantic 10. Don't think they were ever calling the CAA.

I expect our young players on D will continue to grow and develop. Would like to see more penetration from our D especially up front.

The CAA isn't picking up anymore when Fordham calls. Fordham is in the Atlantic 10. Don't think they were ever calling the CAA. It was speculated that Fordham was considering leaving PL FB for CAA FB to be in a stronger league. They definitely don't want to leave A-10 basketball now that they finally have a life on the hardwood.

We should also be in the A10 for basketball. PL basketball is holding us back in recruiting.

Holy Cross has a top notch offense, but their defense has a lot left to be desired. Plus, they have way too many penalties. I hope I am wrong, but I do not see Holy Cross winning the Patriot League title. Right now, I see them losing to Lafayette, and even Fordham. In addition, Lehigh's offense is starting to gel, so they can be a formidable foe.

I for one am glad to see some life out of other teams in the league.
One thing I am curious about, as someone who does not keep up with the depth charts nearly as much as many here: it seems a bit odd to me that so many frosh (even before injuries) would be getting so much playing time on a top 25 team. Any thoughts on this - no need for names, but have there been some recruiting misses here? Has the Covid driven use of 5th players resulted in one negative byproduct, meaning, the development of younger guys being adversely affected? Something else?

If game were in Easton, IMO the Leopards would be the favorites. They held Princeton to 3 rushing yards yesterday. Unless we can't find a way to stop Fordham (very blanaced attack) for a full four quarters or turn the ball over multiple times, I think we handle the Rams again. I want to see Fuller have a Fenerty type of game in the Bronx. They shouldn't be able to stop our ground game. Lehigh should be a fairly easy win if we show up to play. Another factor: Holy Cross has a bye week to prep for Lafayette. Fordham has a bye week to prep for Holy Cross.
