In another transaction connected to a recent matchup, UIC and their coach have parted ways. 47-70 during his tenure.

ESPN: Louisville expected to fire Payne. I think U of L is waiting for the upcoming date when the exit payment decreases --will save a few million dollars perhaps.

Hard to believe Miami made the Final Four last year.

If we have the budget, I'd imagine Fischer is gonna find his way up to the Hart. If he is an excellent recruiter & talent developer, I'll take him tomorrow. I don't think so...even if HCDP is able to open the checkbook more than usual for an assistant. Think of it this way. FHCBN, who had four worse seasons at HC in a much worse conference than Fischer did at W&M, ended up at UMass. He's probably getting paid pretty well -- certainly more than any assistant in the PL. Have to believe Fischer is going to be able to latch on somewhere bigger and better than HC. But Nelson has experience as an All-American player in the SEC and worked as an assistant in the Big East. Something Fischer has never done,

The experience as an all American player has been proven to be not transferable to coaching skills. Of course we all learn from experience and I assume Brett has but he can't learn any more from playing twenty years ago. His playing credentials are good mostly as a door opener now that he has a four year track record as a head coach.
Brett also proved SEC and Big East experience on their own are worthless in the PL if the one with the experience can't transfer it to a new foreign environment. His experience turned out to be a bad fit for HC in the PL. DP's experience is much better and he's never even had a gourmet cup of coffee in the power conferences I don't believe.

Fischer was touted as the recruiting guru during Paulsen's tenure at Bucknell, but apparently couldn't recruit for himself. His only successful season was his first, with his predecessor's guys. The Peter Principle strikes again. In Fisher’s successful first season at W&M, three of his five starters were players he recruited after he landed the job: good transfers from Wisconsin (a 7 footer),Milwaukee, and Penn. At that point it looked like he was going to be successful but then things never clicked after that. That’s surprising because he was a fabulous recruiter at Bucknell, being responsible for landing many of their top players.

How often do you read an interview with a player who says he chose Acme U. because he was a good fit for the recruiting coordinator's system?

Further to Kenny Payne at U of L. He got whacked even though his contract buyout would have been $2,000,000 lower on April 1st. The suggestion is that the big money donor wanted him gone and ponied up the cash needed to take him out today.
Also heard a statement today that when Payne got the job he did not talk to any players for three months-hard to believe that is true…..

Oklahoma State fires Mike Boynton. He is a good coach who will be hired soon In seven seasons, one NCAA Tournament appearance and a 24 games under .500 in conference.

In seven seasons, one NCAA Tournament appearance and a 24 games under .500 in conference. 119-109 overall I'd venture to guess there are plenty of Power 5 coaches who have better records than that over the same stretch who'd be classified as below average coaches.

I'd venture to guess there are plenty of Power 5 coaches who have better records than that over the same stretch who'd be classified as below average coaches. 8-6 out of conference this year. Two of those games were away. Unless ESPN comes knocking on the door for a special event, I expect power conferences to have zero high major opponents and as close to zero as possible true road games. Unless you are a total bottom feeder in your league, you should have an overall winning record

(Let's schedule them) But they scared Villanova in a 58-57 loss yesterday in the B.E. tournament.
