Yes and no. Recall that we lost to Harvard that was lower rated than us but after beating us, we were still higher rated.
But if the experts/computer didn't watch the Laffy game and simply looked at a close 3 point win without realizing we were never better than tied the entire game, and that in the 1st quarter, they may assume Laffy lucked out and the game was a toss-up.
Really, the Leopards deserve to be higher rated and we, at best, perhaps #25 IMO.

I rewatched the game and I now see that game as a toss-up.

Compared to last season, we've kind of lost our fastball (to mix a sports metaphor). Offense as good or better. Defense off the pace and special teams, really down from past seasons.
That's my head talking. My heart says I still love these guys and the team.

A season has its ups and downs We are not a top 20 team but we can compete Let’s play each game and see what the final results offer the selection committee. In the end our record will extend or conclude the ‘23 season

Meaning an at-large bid is essentially off the table. Will take a few things out of our control for us to grab the auto bid. (It is also true a win v Army definitely becomes our signature win. )

For me, I need to simplify things:
1. We need to win out, including a win over Army and big wins over the remaining PL teams to have an outside chance for an at-large (hopefully, a close loss to BC and to Lafayette who will be a lower-tier top 25 ranked who wins the PL when/if they win out will influence the committee), or;
2. Gotta win the remaining PL games and somehow hope Laffy loses two to get the autobid.
While we knew the Laffy game was big before the game, it now looms large in our future.
Oh, and we better not assume any of the remaining PL games will be cakewalks.

FWIW. Watch & enjoy each game itself. Keep the rankings way in the back of my mind. In other words it's watching HC football games win or lose (obviously win is better) for me to enjoy. I realize you play the game to win. I get it. I'm not playing the game. I'm watching the game. Believe me over the years some losses truly pissed me off. But looking back i realized I enjoyed watching the games. Going to AWP on 11/11. Win or lose it's going to be a wonderful day - sunny, dry & not too cold.

Going to enjoy one win at a time for the rest of the season, but since we are talking playoff scenarios, here you go. 4-2 in FCS. What is interesting is that FBS losses do not count but can be considered. So technically our record for playoff purposes is 4-2. We do not have our signature win yet but that is not an actual playoff category. Just ranked wins and losses.
Then Ranked Wins:
Then Ranked Losses: Harvard (24) Lafayette (RV)
Now Ranked Wins:
Now Ranked Losses: Lafayette (19) Harvard (23)
Here's hoping Harvard can stay ranked (and get back to ranking in the STATS poll) and BC makes a bowl (which seems quite likely now). Would like a nice win at Army.
