Bobby Knight was one of the game’s greatest coaches ever.
RIP, General.

Great coach...RIP..I had a video when I coached of him sitting at his desk talking about how hard a player had to work on and off the court to be a winner. And all the things that needed to be done to be a success in life. He was a very demanding coach, and intense. I think he would have had a tough time coaching todays players, as so many of the old time coaches....

I think I would have a hard time playing for him, as much as I respect what he accomplished. His way or the highway style needed kids that would buy in without question. RIP Coach!

He’d definitely struggle with today’s players and media. But, a great basketball mind who did a lot of good in the world to go along with the much more well publicized bad things. RIP.

My experience with Coach Knight----- Many years ago--early to mid 1970's I read in a newspaper or mag Coach Knight's comments about the Olympics and amateurs vs pros. He said something along the lines of "we should send our best pro players to play and if the Russians don't like it they can shove it". Younger players may not recall that the US was competing with amateurs while some other nations had national teams where clearly the players were being paid. I sent him a letter supporting the notion of sending NBA stars.. In any case I got a letter back from coach Knight thanking me for my support and including an Indiana Hoosiers press guide. Of course I know that hios secretary may have written the letter (it was not a form letter) but the signature was genuine.
