Something to monitor --
Durugordon figures to be an impact player for Siena this season, should he be cleared to play.

I know I'm turning into a curmudgeon, but if you give out waivers like candy, what's the point of having a rule

Siena's five starters from last year are gone and only one of their top nine scorers returns. Don't know anything about this Durugordon guy (except that he's already signed a NIL deal) but it's a rebuilding year for them. Surprisingly, they were still picked to finish 5th in the MAAC.

OK, very early, but I will start posting opponent lineups and stats next week after a game oir two. Massey has Siena as favored by 10 (74-64) and gives them an 82% chance for the win.

We have an opportunity to do something that this program hasn't accomplished since 2018 on Monday.
Anyone want to take a guess at what that is?

We have 4/5 starters back, they have none and only won by 7 last year. And they are favored? This is not Kentucky which reloads every year

You are correct. It is very early and there are too many unknowns at this point for any "serious" predictions. I am willing to wait and see what develops. I do expect to see better teamwork for HC and to get a glimpse of our new talent in the freshman class. Those are two things to which I look forward.

5 freshman seeing significant PT...Singleton, Ryan, Williams, Nugent are 4 . My guess on 5 is AJ Wills. Declan Mcintyre is my # 6..But those are just my guesses.
What do we look for Monday?
1. Consistently getting good shots. 2. Rebounding, by all the players on the floor, at both ends.I believe Nugent will be a huge addition to this. 3. Defending without fouling..this is my biggest perceived weakness. I haven't seen enough of the team play yet, but from what I have seen, this group isn't super fast or quick...SO, they have to be very good at anticipating what will happen and get to spots early! Seeing and reacting is too slow. They have to be able to ACT as something is just starting. Anticipate a pass, cut or rebound. 4. Changing Defense's. Another way to slow an offense down. 5. Score in transition...We need some easy hoops, 10 points in transition in each half would be huge! That is only 5 possessions in each 20 minute half. Very doable. and lastly, MAKE FREE THROWS....
GO CROSS GO

Assuming everything we've been saying about Coach Paulsen is true, I think a Coach Paulsen led team would have won last year's game so I think we have a good chance to get a win.

Only we can prove people wrong by bucking a five year trend.
Regarding the NIL? Can confirm: with the right configuration, the Challenger was among the most-fun cars I've ever had.

Paulsen's refrain: Will you still love me tomorrow? I am keeping my expectations hopeful but realistic.IMO this year it's the process of building toward a PL championship. Win or lose gotta' show the love & support for these extraordinary student-athletes & our wonderful coach.

Just saw Siena -6.5. I'm taking that in DP's first game for the Crusaders. See more energy and intensity from the squad this year I think.

Bump We have an opportunity to get off to a good start, hopefully with a win, or at least a solid performance we can be proud of as a starting block. 5 freshmen in the rotation is a challenge, especially in the early games.

For the many of us that won't be traveling to Albany for the game, it is scheduled to be shown on ESPN+.

For those of you really excited for the game and plan on going and furthermore were wondering where MVP arena is, the Albany Civic Center has changed names again. Siena still plays home games at the same downtown arena, they just changed the name to try and confuse out of town fans and maximize home court advantage
