Found this article on the Dartmouth BGA site which talks about Dartmouth athletes navigating NIL and pointing out that the Ivy League has no ability to control what student athletes pursue - I guess that's a good thing because NIL is here to stay and I'm wondering what HC is doing about facilitating our athletes to pick up some income along the way. I'd think we better hop on board this train because it's coming to the midmajor / FCS level whether we like it or not. www.thedartmouth.com/article/2023/11/nil-partnerships-beilstein

td128 or others have more knowledge than I on the subject but my recollection from a discussion with ADKH was they had some experts on the subject come in and speak to our athletes, more so that our players don't make some mistakes that will hurt them.

Imagine Gordy Lockbaum, Ronnie Perry Jack the Shot & so many others signing lucrative NIL deals? And, today? I don't like it at all but by law today's student-athletes have free access to NIL money. HC's location is not the best for media advertisements but students at FU & colleges in other major media capital cities will benefit. Should provide great incentives for recruits at these media centric schools.

I think there are probably two classes of NIL. Some are just deep pockets paying athletes for attending the school and making alma mater look good. Some are actual legitimate usage of name, image, and likeness. I wouldn't be shocked if someone like a Matt Sluka had a large social media following. He could do a selfie once a week drinking some healthy protein shake and get something for that.
I'm not sure right now how many HC athletes could command much on that kind of market. I just don't think having Will Batchelder as the official spokesperson of Coney Island hot dogs is going to move the needle on their business much. Maybe in Tuscaloosa, but I don't see Worcester
I think at HC's level NIL is going to come from the deep pocket alum who wants a sports team to do good. Once again thinking of HC, I don't see the school twisting the arms of the deep pockets to write checks to students. If the school is going to twist arms, I think they're going to focus on things like performing arts centers and residents halls on City View. Someone like a sader1970 would almost have to come forward and say "Hey I want to pay some 5 star athlete to come here and take us to the next level"

IIRC, KH said there are several athletes at HC with NILs, but none are for big money; i.e., again IIRC, under $10K

Or. . . Being a school of men and women for others, maybe the deep pockets want the sports teams to do good. . . to be out in the community making the world a better place
