They have been and remain a very good defensive team, unfortunately, they are nearly as bad on offense.

Another less than perfect day in the OOC PL: Howard beats AU rather handily 75-57 for their 3rd win of the season; UAlbany thumps Navy 87-56; Loyola outscores Delaware 23-5 in the 4th to eck out a 66-64 win; Army up by 20 at the half against a team I've never heard of Five Towns College, I think a D3;
Lehigh,in a game they were favored by 13, looked rather mediocre, losing in OT 67-57 to a bad Rider team (3-8). Perhaps the combination of the long Christmas break & Stemmer being under the weather (1-14 from 3) were the cause of the unexpected loss, but LU was unimpressive at both ends of the floor.

Not a great day for the PL women. A bit better for the men. I am glad HC had nothing scheduled for today.

Agree it is probably a D3

5-Towns College isn't D3. It's too small to be D3 although it doesn't offer athletic scholarships just like D3. Has about 600 students and only a handful of sports. Army should not be playing a program like this especially after already scheduling a D3 this season. Same with Navy which has 2 wins against bad D3 teams this year.

They're in this... The United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) is a national organization for the intercollegiate athletic programs of 72 mostly small colleges, including community/junior colleges, across the United States. The USCAA holds 15 national championships and 2 national invitationals annually.[1]

MA is represented in the USCAA by (back from the dead) Hampshire College, Bay Path University (a former junior college that is now a university) and Quincy College (a college founded by a mid sized city). It sounds like a great resource and home for schools that aren't quite ready for a traditional sports organization like the NCAA or NAIA.

I believe Maine-Fort Kent is in that also since they are so far away from all other colleges, noone wants to play them in conference play.

Grambling State beat College Bible School 159-18 last night. All-time record for margin of victory.
Why do schools play these games? It's totally ridiculous.
We talked a little about this in the Elms thread. If you're going to schedule a game with a lower division team, why not play a D2, or higher-level NAIA or DIII team. Why go dumpster diving for unaccredited bible schools? It's just such a weird practice. Nothing in it for anyone. Not like Grambling is writing this school a massive check for coming to play a women's game in front of 300 people.
Basketball the only team sport where this ridiculous practice is commonplace. In football, it's very rare to see schools from more than one division apart play each other, exceptions being non-scholly Pioneer League teams playing occasional DIIIs. And then those random independent programs like Virginia-Lynchburg and College of the Faith (which I think is defunct now). But you'll very rarely see an FBS play a DII or a scholarship FCS play a DIII. In hockey, baseball, lacrosse and soccer you almost never see games between teams in different divisions. In more individual sports like track, tennis, golf and swimming, you'll see invitationals where a wider range of schools all compete.

No athletic scholarship $ in D2 and D3 soccer so it's fairly common to see D2 play D3.

Mostly chalk tonight but AU takes out Lehigh on the road 69-65. American win is a biggie. That will have impact in the end. Mostly shocked by Lafayette beating Army by 26 on Army's home floor. What the heck is going on at Army?

And...Lehigh should have lost to Loyola last year at home but inexplicably poor defense in the final seconds allowed Kramer to take an open 3 and force OT, in which Lehigh prevailed.

How/why has the league declined so much???

How/why has the league declined so much??? Well I do think the coaching turnover has played a large part. Hard to believe that in a league that had a bunch of long term coaches, the two deans are Woodruff & Damon, both hired in 2019., MM is #3, hired in 2020.

In a early game today, AU at home knocks off BosU in double overtime 91- 87. Going to be a fun season in the PL this year I think

But It looks like nobody is going to run away with the regular season title. Everybody has issues. HC needs to win their home games and steal a few on the road.
