His name is going to be mentioned for pretty much every job opening that comes up. Get used to it.
It's a good thing.

Don't you love "sources?" That includes potential sources with three or four degrees of separation from anyone who knows for sure.

I mean he seems a legitimate reporter for JMU so I don't think the right idea is to immediately scoff at it.

Actually once a year is a good thing for promoting a coach and the school.
However, if a coach is involved or mentioned frequently for open jobs in the same off season, and it doesn’t work out, it becomes a potential negative for the coach and the school. Hypothetically a coach finishes second or third in the interview process, the outside world begins to question a few things, and of course at what point does the chase for a bigger role begin to impact the program.
I can think of a number of baseball, basketball, and football coaches that get involved with every opening, fail to advance, and see their careers stall.

I like JMU. Great story transitioning after dominating the East of FCS. I went to a game there and loved the atmosphere ca. 2013. That being said, other than having his foot in the FBS door, I think BC can do better in a year or two with potential openings.

I went to a game there in 2019 vs Villanova. Was following our Crusaders vs Brown at the same time.
20,000 at least at the JMU game, 3,000 at Brown Stadium. Was kind of jealous.

It is the event to attend if you live around I-81
I get our puppies from a breeder in that neighborhood
And there is a Burger King and Subway at every exit between JMU and Route 66

I mean he seems a legitimate reporter for JMU so I don't think the right idea is to immediately scoff at it. What I'm thinking is nobody who has exact knowledge would risk leaking it to the reporter if he or she has agreed with his selection committee colleauges to keep everything confidential during the process and only the ultimate choice for head coach will be identified at the end of the search. That leaves one or more levels of separation before it gets to the reporter. Coach Chesney is a logical candidate so I'm not scoffing at the actual info reported but just at the process of having to use anonymous sources for information that isn't supposed to be public. I have more respect for a reporter actually analyzing who would be logical candidates and weighing their plusses and minuses to educate the readers rather than turning the sports beat into a gossip column. I do think JMU is a more logical a step than straight to P-4 at Syracuse.

Not about being mentioned, but does he actively engage in numerous interviews Perfectly fine it is his call I would encourage any coach that is highly sought after to be strategic in their decisions, otherwise I believe messaging in the real time world ( their current job) can become meaningless

JMU Nation should be more comfortable with an FCS coach because they recently came from FCS and realize the two subdivisions are not oceans apart. That's an interesting twist on this particular courtship, and a potentially better springboard to Power 5 job in 3-5 years

So, the JMU board picked up a private flight from Shenandoah to Worcester tomorrow morning. these private flight watches are a whole other level of Fandom. I suppose the next step is a tail the whole way from the airport to campus. I thought only crazy ACC/SEC fans did that!

Im looking forward to the day I get to take the little guy for the first time now.

I get it. JMU is an attractive job as far as non-P5 (P4) goes. Solid team with continuously wining pedigree and stepping stone job for coaches.
For reference, JMU pay mid of the pack for Sunbelt. Cignatti made 548K plus about 100K in bonuses. He'll probably make 4-5 mil at Indiana. If Chesney decides to take the job, it will be about moving to FBS, not the money at JMU.
Again, hope he stays and shows the world how good he is by winning a 'ship at HC.

I'll admit - relative to my previous post - there is plenty of smoke regarding JMU at this point.

If these two scenarios are true, it seems to indicate he wants to leave HC. Why else would he pursue the first two viable openings available ? Perhaps his phrase “at HC you can have it all” applied to players only.

He was always going to leave for bigger and better things. I don't think it's really fair of us to expect him to stick around forever. I'd absolutely not be surprised to see him parlay some successful years at JMU into a P5 offer and a big raise.
I hate the timing of it though, and the rumors JMU was looking for an AD/HC combo has me a bit worried.

In this day and age public data about private aircraft and routes is freely and easily available: flightaware.com/live/flight/N704DA/history/20231204/1330Z/KSHD/KORHThe rabbit hole of the internet is available to anybody desiring to dig into past trips, registered owner, potential restaurant destinations etc. All private owners know this. Suggest the time is better spent elsewhere. Many thanks and all the best wishes to BC whatever his future. Confident that HC has set a course for the program that all involved will continue to pursue relentlessly.

JMU offered Cignetti $1 mill per year before he left (obv much less that Indiana offered) but I would imagine that figure will be the number for their new coach (abt double what HC is paying)

JMU is not a rebuilding job obviously and that has to make it very desirable - honestly a very nice spot to be in for any new coach - I’ve been on their campus and it’s a very attractive place
