I just read that Wash St. and Oregon St. will be competing in the West Coast Conference in all sports except football and baseball for the next two years. It sounds like that announcement was made just before Christmas. Part of the deal was the WCC insisted on more than a one year agreement.

It sounds like that announcement was made just before Christmas. Part of the deal was the WCC insisted on more than a one year agreement. Not a bad landing, although temporary, for the other sports. It should be noted that baseball is Oregon State's most successful program in recent memory and they are still scrambling to find a conference; may end up going independent.

The biggest problem with being an independent may be finding quality, or any, opponents, especially during league schedule months.

They may end up playing a string of D3 teams and crushing them

But that will not get them to the NCAA championships
