James Madison Head Coach Bob Chesney announced his 2024 football coaching staff, which includes seven members of his Holy Cross staff from last season, as well as the retention of two coaches from JMU's previous leadership. Seven coaches make the move to JMU with Chesney from Holy Cross in Kennedy, Canan, DiMichele, Zarkoskie, Barnes, Sproles and Cordova.

Not interested in JMU and who's on their coaching staff. Time to move on.

I think there is a happy medium between following and cheering along for Chesney as well as staying dialed in on our current team.
This past year, we had one thread for HC grad transfers to follow their seasons with updated stats and tweets. To me, that is sufficient, but I do not oppose someone posting a thread next year (one single thread not 60 different ones for each game I guess) about JMU's season. I will follow along and wish the best for him, Matt, and all of our transfers playing at the FBS level next season.
Chu Chu, I was surprised how few coaches he pulled in from other FBS programs. Either it is a feather in HC's cap for having such a strong coaching staff/coaching tree or a potential knock on the desirability of a current FBS coach to move to JMU.

The whereabouts and well being of those 7 individuals who did a lot for our program are of interest, as is the fact that some of our former assistant coaches are now not assistant coaches, but analysts or GA's.

I do think there's a good argument that we don't need multiple posts about JMU at this point.
I'm fine if people want to follow or discuss that program, but we're now up to 4 different threads about JMU which is getting a bit much, imo.

Understand the interest by some in former HC assistants who have moved w/Coach Chesney to JMU. Wish them well. However, my focus rests entirely with our new fine head coach, Dan Curran and his exciting group of assistants. They have my total attention & support. Expect alums loyal to HC above all will feel the same. GoCrossGo.

I copied the line from the article because I was personally surprised at the shear number of guys he brought with him. I had never added them up. Our program has lost a lot of institutional memory. Just an observation, as we move forward.

There's an optimal balance between institutional memory and player staff relationships and giving the new head coach and players the chance to turn the page with a new staff selected by the new head coach. Between Chesney and Curran they probably tried to achieve this as much as possible while factoring in the wishes of the assistants.
It's been a velvet divorce (and re-marriage🙂) that is hopefully positive for as many members of the HC FB family as possible.

Saw "Chesney's Rotisserie' in Holetown, St.James on the west coast of Barbados. Guess HC's former coach has another source of income as a Plan B, just in case.
