I like the term flip as opposed to poach.

HC sure seemed to do better vis-a-vis Chesney than JMU did vis-a-vis Cignetti.

HC sure seemed to do better vis-a-vis Chesney than JMU did vis-a-vis Cignetti. With the portal and NILs, I think that JMU and the other schools in its conference are going to quite vulnerable to poaching by the SEC and ACC. Boosters and alums will continually be on the lookout for talent at JMU and the other conference schools to fill roster needs. The geographic locus of HC and the PL are for the most part out of range and out of sight for these SEC and ACC boosters. Checked BC's transfer portal. 38 players transferring either from/to BC. Two entered the portal this week.

It'll be interesting but I think the NIL/transfer portal is going to be a hindrance for Ray-Bans at JMU...he should win there but I don't think it's guaranteed

I think you're right about everyone outside the P5 ( or should we now say P2 ?? ) is in the same boat..........But I wouldn't compare the other FBS conferences to the FCS.........As 128 stated in an earlier post, I think we are in a very good position re: the NIL/portal in the future.........we are attracting students whose primary objective is to get an education and play high level college football......in that order.......we are not attracting kids whose primary objective is finding the fastest way up the NFL draft board, no matter how many stops/transfers it takes.......Chesney is going to have to deal with this in ways he never had to at HC, and Curran will not

Basketball, of course, had a different track record recently and the individuals transferring in many cases had as much to do with leaving as the coach did.

Looks like Dobbs and Purdy are both pursuing graduate education in cyber intelligence at JMU. Smart move by two great Crusaders.

Looks like Dobbs and Purdy are both pursuing graduate education in cyber intelligence at JMU. Smart move by two great Crusaders. Here is the webpage for the program. www.jmu.edu/pce/programs/all/cyber-intelligence/what-is-the-curriculum.shtmlIt is a six course fully online aysnchronus program which they have likely started and will finish in December. It would seem ideal for a football player who wants to work out half the day. They get a graduate certificate; not a degree, which is probably not uncommon in these type of programs. I looked up the NCAA rules on this and learned that graduate students really just have to take classes offered in a degree program although they don't actually have to be enrolled in a degree program. Learn something new every day. It would cost an out of state student $12,780 to attend-only $180 more than an instate student.

All online, earning a certificate from JMU, but not clear that it's a degree program

Not starting a new thread for this since we have enough JMU threads.

x.com/PeteThamel/status/1769055003325435932?s=20Wow, I missed that Maryland hired Wroblewski over the weekend as O line Coach. Tough break for JMU. Would be like HC losing BV right now in the cycle. He was seen as a crucial holdover in the transition. Just can’t compete with that P4 money. It’s not close.

Giants O line gave up the second most sacks in NFL history. The OL coach was sacked and replaced by a new hire. Certainly not a good look for his assistant Coach Smith's resume. Giants will be crappy again as usual. Maybe it's time for Coach Smith to head out of Dodge City. Once again hook up with the great Coach Chesney.

Giants hired Ferentz's son as AOL coach earlier today.

Fingers are crossed for this fine young coach. He has a bright future. The Giants suck, despite my Jesuit affection for the Fordham Mara family of Rye NY. Met Wellington "Well" Mara once at Fordham. He was a gracious man, very engaging. His eyes lit up when I mentioned Holy Cross.

Still think it sucks for Chris a bit that he's now under Kennedy. Hoping he can parlay this into an OC role in a couple years.

The writer is a glass half full person. Holy Cross advanced to the 1-AA quarterfinals in 1983 but did not win a game, going 0-1. Coach Smith led the HC offense in the most productive year of Chesney's tenure. Thanks Coach.
