Chip replaces O'Brien before the ink on OB's BC contract is even dry.
Definitely leaving UCLA due to "mutual illness"; that is, both parties sick of one another.
BTW, this is the first local guy to coach BC since 1935.

Definitely, another NIL/Portal decision. Veteran coaches who just want to coach (and have already made plenty of $) - Hafley and Kelly in the same boat leaving HC jobs at schools that had comparative disadvantages to others in their conferences.

Ironically, Martin Jarmond took the AD job at UCLA after hiring Hafley.
To elaborate, found this tweet:
"You’re telling me the former Ohio State coordinator left his job as BC head coach so BC hired the OSU offensive coordinator so now the former BC OC and current OSU HC hired Chip Kelly as OC so now the former BC AD/OSU admin has to hire a new HC at UCLA?"

O'Brien is reported to have received a salary of $5 million a year plus incentives.
I'm sure Bob Chesney is thinking "what might have been" with just a little different timing.
Don't worry, Bob. That BC job will be open again in 3 years.

That BC job will be open again in 3 years. Forces that have nothing to do with Bill O'Brien (NIL and all the conference switches, past and future) might keep the program down; but I grudgingly believe this is a positive hire for BC.
