W&M does a lot of 'portal recruiting' - from the website: 28 new players on the roster including eight graduate transfers, six undergrad transfers and 14 freshmen. About three hours till the season starts and our site has zippo about this year's team - just shows how unimportant they think baseball is

That story mentions one player. Not a word about returning players and pitching staff. Embarrassing

I think it is great they released an article/story about a standout player. That said, I agree with others--not having an extensive season preview seems crazy to me.
On a side note, is the audio feed not working for anyone else?

Soph Danny Machiarolla has surrendered only 3 hits through 5. Still 3-1 Danny is from Xavier in Manhattan. Xavier is the home of many Crusaders, inc at least one poster.
Trivia- (open to all but that current poster) Who was the most notable HC athlete from Xavier ?

A pleasant surprise as Baseball starts a busy Crusader weekend off on the front foot. Nice job.

Correct The good Doctor George Kaftan A young George Kaftan. Thank the jesuits at Xavier for convincing his parents to send him to a jesuit college. His performance in the 1947 title game was spectacular. Attachments:

Walters in relief had a tough inning with walks and hbp’s - throw in a few hits and you have a 6-2 deficit after 5

Duke hit 11 HRs in a game today, one was inside the park. I think it will take this team 18 games to hit 11 as a team. Not much power on the team. See how the boys do tomorrow.

Today has been disappointing- get this: we scored 7 runs in the top of the first but we have not found one pitcher to be the least bit effective and we trail 12-7 after 5 innings

We showed some fight which is a good sign but eventually lost 14-12

Our pitching coach seems to make every pitcher worse. Could be a long season.

13 walks and 4 HBP explains how the offense produced 12 runs and it resulted in a loss. Mateffy was the only pitcher not to allow an earned run (surrendering 4 unearned). Every single pitcher had a BB or HBP...3 of 6 had both. It was an especially tough outing for Sutman, who faced three batters, walking two and hitting one. As with most HC teams over the years, it appears we may be very top-heavy on the pitching side.
It appears that getting everyone innings is a strategy for HCEK this year. Only one pitcher threw more than once out of the bullpen (Lemond: 2 appearances, 1.1 IP, 6.75 ERA, 3.75 WHIP, .429 BAA). I don't think there is a "right" way to do it, but I would rather he try to win games and rely on the better bullpen arms more. At the end of the day, it is about winning. Those lower on the totem pole can develop in practice and live batting practice sessions (this is how most serious D1 programs operate and how Dicenzo operated--you must earn your innings).

Based on that principle, only two pitchers would be available
