I'd love to see them get home/home with W&M or Richmond. Random thoughts after seeing what 2 FBS near-misses did ( or didn't do ) for us on Selection Sunday this year ( granted, if we had beaten Laffy or Harvard it wouldn't have mattered )...It would seem that 1 FBS near miss and win over an OOC FCS perennial contender ( Furman, Viilanova, Richmond ) would serve us better if that scenario ( 8-3, 7-4 ) repeated itself in the future If we all agree we wish to have a national presence moving forward, here is a template, involving moderate travel ( travel expenses are always underestimated ) Eliminate the likes of CCSU, Bryant, Merrimack Eliminate non-P4 FBS matchups.....not sure what Miami ( OH ), SJS, or Buffalo add to the equation One P4 buy game a year, understanding that BC will be scheduled at least once every 4 years......others in that rotation could include UVa, Duke, Northwestern, Wake, Vandy.....throw Tulane, Army and Navy into that mix as well One Ivy a year ( preferably Harvard ) Strong, Eastern FCS OOC schedule of perennial contenders for the remaining 3-4 games to enhance our post season resumes for Selection Sunday.........W & M, Richmond, Villanova, Furman, UNH, URI, perhaps on an every other year basis We'll meet the Montanas and Dakotas in the post-season !! Wrt non-P4 matchups, I do like the idea of playing FBS games that we at least have a fighting chance to win. Also Army and Navy are non-P4. Also, games against the high-academic mostly private universities you mentioned would be fun but most of these schools tend to play local FCS opponents that they don't have to fly in from another region. They're not printing ticket revenue like OSU or Michigan. And Bryant is in a better league than us now just FYI.

Most urging more CAA games didn't envision a road game in a 4400 seat stadium. In 2024 Bryant plays a Holy Trinity of HC dream dates: Delaware, Richmond and William and Mary. Villanova this year would have given them a Grand Slam of opponents in our wish book. They are promoting the visit from the Crusaders as a "key regional showdown against five time Patriot League Champion Holy Cross." The Bulldogs won't be a tomato can opponent. It should be a good game. Will HC coming off 7-4 after losing Sluka be favored on the road over Bryant coming off 6-5? It will be interesting to see.

Agree with all your points, but if we had a template where we played those P4 schools mentioned on a regularly scheduled basis, it would enhance our program

And agree with NY2010 Bryant doesn’t belong in the same sentence as Merrimack and CCSU. They would help or hurt on Selection Sunday depending upon how they do versus their CAA competition and solid OOC.

Exactly- those that are panning Bryant are assuming Bryant's going to be a CAA doormat because they're coming from a lesser league. Assume they are going to be good and work back from there. What might have been perceived as mediocre scheduling is most likely a good get.

Perhaps HC's relationship with AFA (hockey) and FADNP might get HC an opportunity to fill an open date.
As far as Princeton goes, I like playing one or two of those fine institutions annually; but no more than that. When one drops off for a year or two (or permanently, God forbid), pick up another one.

I like the thought in general, but that is a daunting schedule week after week after week.....5 or 6 very difficult games. Nice to mix in a CCSU, SHU etc to work on things, build some confidence etc. I would only schedule one of these a year though.

Understood, but all we heard on Selection Sunday was " no quality wins "......quality losses obviously don't factor in....... a win over W & M is clearly better than a loss to BC

If we want to enhance our resume for Selection Sunday, we can start by not losing to teams like Harvard and Lafayette. Let's show we can win the games we're supposed to win before we start loading up our OOC schedule with P3 schools and perennial FCS contenders.

BC, because of tradition and location, may be the only power conference opponent that makes good sense. UConn, UMass have a good risk/reward ratio. We get credit for playing an FBS team win or lose but with a real chance to win. With Sluka we had BC right where we wanted them. Let's see how we do without him.

I don't think that fans are going to line up for a trip to Montana. This one will! The HC softball team will be playing in Missoula Montana on March 7,8, and 9. Playing the Griz as well as a school on our future football schedule, Northern Illinois. Softball and Baseball schedules are far from Worcester this year with travel. Let’s hope HC performs well during these games and receives solid recognition regarding potential recruits. goholycross.com/sports/softball/schedulegoholycross.com/sports/baseball/schedule

One thing I wish they'd start doing is to schedule two away games at each end of the why-the-hell-do-they-need-an-entire-week-off vacation week.
An opportunity as well to have a lengthy trip w/o missing class time.

An opportunity as well to have a lengthy trip w/o missing class time. Nice idea....saves money, allows for scheduling upper echelon/non-PL opponents, avoids home games with limited attendance as the students are away. opportunity for team bonding, etc......The reason I'm told they now.have the full week off in October is to balance the vacation time each semester.....it matches the winter/spring break week in February/March

Instead of looking at this from saving time and money, explore ways to do things the right way by investing another three to five million dollars. We can't keep trying to do things by being cheap. Cost conscious is important but should not be the driver when considering individual or team growth and development opportunities.
For example, there are rumblings that coaches from our major sports don't have a budget that allows them to attend the NCAA meetings/convention for their sport. If true you can fill in the blanks,

Many staff members attended in years past.

If this is true this is an utter embarrassment. I can speak for football that it was a choice not to attend this year with so much going on. Many staff members attended in years past. Very helpful information for perspective. The key info shared at the national convention will be available online. The FB program didn't have mass departures or a big disruption during the transition. Now we know all available hands remained on deck. Smooth as possible transitions don't happen by accident. Kudos to any coaches who sacrificed the potential networking benefits to their career that these conventions offer to stay home and tend to HC FB.

Bryant has expanded the football stadium already this offseason to prepare for CAA football as they put bleachers in the open end of the end zone. I bet we see them tear down the seating outside of the press box stands and close it in during the next five years.

The final fours in both men and women's hoops coincide with large coaching conventions in those cities.

Go play across the country Vandy Rice Cal EXPAND THE VISION HC! Abandon the 1/2 century tradition of light/bushel. We are traveling to OH, IL and CA this decade. Yes, but we could up the competitive ante by looking at schools like Vanderbilt, Northwestern, and Duke -- all academically excellent schools with great overall reputations, but not top tier FBS programs. Colgate played at Stanford a few years ago and Lafayette at Durham last year. A wipeout each time, true. But what the hell. Nothing ventured, nothing gained!
