In a girls basketball game, Lowell Collegiate Charter school forfeited their game to Kipp Academy after 3 girls got injured in the first half. Basketball is a physical game. Kipp has a biological/genetic guy on the team who identifies as female. Under MIAA rules this person is allowed to compete on the girls team. See linked short video of one play
In a completely inappropriate response to the situation, the Kipp player has received threats after the Lowell game. Kipp is forfeiting their next game for what I assume are safety reasons

Can't wait to see the direction in which this thread goes...

I’m confident nobody on Crossports thought this was a good idea (before or after the unsurprising injuries).

The player who jerked the ball away looks older than high school age with possibly the beginning of a receding hairline. Why can't common sense be applied and prohibit these situations for safety reasons?
I feel for the transgender student, too. If the transgender trend continues at the high school level perhaps there can be can be regional co-op teams with m-to-f students playing against each other for safety reasons, such as a Central Mass team vs a Metro West team and a Merrimack Valley team, etc.

Interesting that you call it a “trend.”

Unfortunately, they are going to qualify for the MIAA tournament. Based on their season to date, they have no chance of winning multiple games in the tournament; perhaps one game. Unfortunately, the games will be a circus, I'm sure.
I don't agree w/trans players, but reading the story, it appears that the two schools played earlier and there was no problem. These are not competitive programs, very low level of play. The kid (no pronoun needed) was going to play a whole season and fly under the radar screen.
Update: KIPP decided to not enter the tournament, most certainly disappointing the vultures on both sides of the issue.
