We have all wondered how this team's offense has slumped this season after losing just 1 sr from last year (a defensive player) Some examples: Team fg pct 22-23: .423 / 23-24: .387 Team ft pct 22-23: .746 / 23-24: .713
BPC: fg pct 22-23: .458 / 23-24: .430 Berger: .527 / .436 Flanagan .422 / .368 Foreman .413 / .337

No need to "go figure" out anything. You have provided all the reasons right there.

I believe the go figure is trying to ask the question, how can this unusual disparity be explained ?

Carry it a little further, I'll let folks draw their own conclusions:
PPG offense 60.7 22-23 to 61.8 23-24 worse by 1.1 points PPG defense 55.9 22-23 to 53.9 23-24 better by 2 points.
Net gain .9 points
3 point shooting: 5.4 per game/.311 pct in 23-24; 4.9/.317 in 22-23 Slightly worse percentage, more threes per game made opp 4.6 per game/.255 pct in 23-24; 5.1/.307 in 22-23 Defending threes better
Rebounding: 36.0 22-23 to 41.7 23-24 better by 5.7 opponents 33.2 22-23 to 35.2 23-24 worse by 2 A lot more misses so far in 23-24 versus 22-23, HC's not showing any deficiencies here
Turnovers 15.0 22-23 to 13.0 23-24 better by 2 (IMHO, surprising; thought this would be worse Opp 14.6 22-23 to 12.2 23-24 better by 2.4 (guess last year's D forced more turnovers; but points allowed this year is better)

Coach John McCray worked with the guards for three successful seasons. He helped develop BPC, Avery, Flannagan, Cross, McCormack, Foreman. etc. I remember when Avery infrequently took a breather he would review her play with her on the bench and she was attentive.
He had more experience than many assistants and moved on to another assistant position I believe. That could have been because of HC's budget or a million other reasons.

In a tiny sample size mostly in garbage time (but those shots are defended, too) Janie Bachmann has a shooting line of .500/.667/1.000. I sense she is ready for a few more minutes.
