For you old guys on Crossports who remember the teams of the 70’s, one of my best friends and teammates died last night. Please say a prayer for Tyree Blocker. One of the best cornerbacks to play at Holy Cross.

May his soul rest in peace and the accomplishments of his life be remembered by all who knew him.

Great football player -incredibly hard hitter. Cornerback was called to be a running back in one game where regular RB’s were injured and he had a solid game. He distinguished himself after graduation as a PA state trooper as I believe he became head of the force.

Tyree and Johnnie Provost shut it down back in the day. Silent assassins, both of them. Practice was tougher than games.

I talked with Tyree at a reunion and was very impressed. His tackles were so sure. When I first started watching MMA I thought of Tyree. I remembered his tackles when I first saw what they call in MMA a "double legged take down." The receiver's forward progress would just stop and he would go down when Tyree got ahold of his legs. R.I.P.

Sad to hear....never knew Tyree Blocker (what a football name btw) but he was on those early/mid 70s teams where I became a Sader fan for life. Great defensive backfields in those years, Ty with Provost, Rohan Bradley and others. May he RIP.
