That “fortunately” applies only to New England

Fortunately they are in New England, and hope for sunny skies in South Kingston and Smithfield. Planning on attending both. Maybe the games will be picked up on NESN+ But like so many, I really do not like Flo Sports and will not be subscribing to their platform. Flo Sports is another chink in the CAA's armor. Flo must have given the league a great package when the CAA was minting playoff bids. Can't blame the conference for saying yes. The issue is, how is the large majority of the sports world going to see many of their games. ESPN+ serves it's leagues better in that regard.

ESPN I believe blocks conferences from broadcasting games on local cable networks like NESN, MSG and YES if a league signs a deal. Thats why a league like the CAA makes that decision. That being said, Fordham had a bunch of ganes this year on SNY in addition to ESPN+ thru the A10's deal. So maybe I'm missing something.

I wonder if Lehigh and Lafayette games are still broadcast locally on Service Ekectric cable TV after the league signed with ESPN+?

‘Theme Days’ have been announced for our 5 home games including Homecoming vs Fordham Oct 12 - No Polar Park game - with 7 road games there’s no way we could have scheduled only 4 at Fitton

If we are all about the company we keep how do people feel about this schedule.
With a 12 game schedule and only one FBS game isn't this a bit disappointing. Again the Ivies are two solid games, but do absolutely nothing for my interest. Give me Syracuse, another FBS, William and Mary, Richmond, Nova, UNH, and the PL each 12 game season and it is challenging and more enjoyable schedule
Aug. 31 at Rhode Island Sept. 7 vs. New Hampshire (Education Appreciation Day) Sept. 14 at Bryant Sept. 21 vs. Yale (Family Weekend) Sept. 28 at Syracuse Oct. 5 at Colgate* Oct. 12 vs. Fordham* (Homecoming / 508 Community Day / First Responders Day) Oct. 19 at Harvard Oct. 26 at Lafayette* Nov. 9 vs. Lehigh* (Spirit Day / Healthcare Heroes Day) Nov. 16 vs. Bucknell* (Senior Day / Military and Veterans Appreciation Day) Nov. 23 at Georgetown*

To the squeezed confines of Polar Park, "See ya!" If/when HC plays there again it will be a fresher experience. The ghosts of the Harvard debacle will be farther away. We need a break and we're getting one.

We could do alot worse than this schedule

Yes as a PL team, i would definitely take the Bryant schedule without Bryant, and think it would be a great schedule with two FBS, one ivy and two non NE FCS schools to give us a national schedule each year.

I personally couldn't care less about playing the Ivies every year, but I know it's a local tie, and HC has a long storied history against both schools.

I do like our FCS OOC (UNH, URI, BRY, Harvard, Yale) much more than Lafayette's FCS OOC (Monmouth, Marist, Columbia, Stonehill, and SHU).

As I said, it is an opinion board where a wish list that includes a menu of options is allowed.
The closest thing we have to a rivalry is Fordham, and that is part of our PL schedule. The local teams don't meet that test at this time, but perhaps in the future, one of the locals will become a rival.
The most challenging OOC schedule we can have every season better prepares us for what we might face in the playoffs.

Harvard is an exciting game, as is Yale, but they aren't rivals

Just checked. As of 8/23 HC had played Colgate 84 times and BC 83. Then we played each in 2023.

Harvard's not a rival...a rival is someone you want to lose all of the time. If anything, people on this board seem to tend to pull for Harvard...and I am sure Harvard's fans don't care what happens to us when they aren't playing us. Further, the schools are pretty close together, but attendance for their games is not remarkable...can't be a rival. Thanks to the PP game and the covid year, there is a limited sample size and I'm not bothering to go back and check weather reports, but in 2022, for an October 1 game, #10 ranked HC was Harvard's lowest attendance of the year. 2021 at Fitton, Harvard was our highest attendance; 2019 Harvard was our homecoming game, 2nd highest attendance, although topped by Colgate the following week; 2018 we were Harvard's third highest attendance...nothing here screams out rival. If we are true rivals, especially with the geographic proximity, games should be well attended every year.

I do not think of Harvard as a rival. Harvard's rivals are Yale and Princeton. Harvard is an exciting game, as is Yale, but they aren't rivals I always considered Harvard, an ancient in-state opponent as a rival, but I am not sure they view us as a rival. There is quite a bit of buzz when one or both teams have winning seasons, but I sort of see it as Yale is their main rival, Princeton and Brown are secondary rivals, and we are like the little pesky brother. As such, I'm not sure I'd want to consider them a rival. I think they are a marriage of convenience for both programs. They did drop us in the 30's when we were one of the best teams in the East. I'm sure Doc Anderson was happier to beat Georgia than to play and beat Harvard.
