Talked to an alum/season ticket holder from Auburn this evening. He said that the input of season ticket holders regarding this proposed change was solicited last fall. He said that he and the season ticket holders he knew were opposed to the change. Would be interesting to know the % of those polled who favored the change. Gonna go out on a limb and say it may have been less than 50%.

Dang!!
I moved to the north side several years ago to avoid the density. It was nice while it lasted…..
Many of us who have staked out north side seating will not appreciate the influx. The cat is out of the bag regarding better sight lines as well as ease to get to the men’s room.
Looking at the seating chart to determine my new location for 2024.

Have to admit, it was a once in a lifetime experience to sit on the north side, and watch the crowd reaction on the south side during the Fordham game in 2022. Seeing the elation of HC fans and the team from across the field, was an unparalleled treat.

Do you think that's perhaps the first step towards reducing the footprint on the (former) home side and finally (is the guy that always used to comment on this still on the board) replacing the press box that Father Brooks et. al. didn't see fit to replace even though it was obsolete in 1984? The skeleton underneath is quite old versus the new home side, which was erected in 1985. I'm assuming the tv cameras are going to stay put; otherwise, looking at more empty seats seems foolhardy. As far as the new home side: 1. Warmer on a sunny day; which works in two directions 2. So close to the field that it's tough to see a big play on the sidelines, especially near each goal line. 3. Unless I'm misremembering; there is no aisle at the bottom of the bleachers (so no walking back and forth in front of the action, which I sometimes found annoying). Because the audience is more relaxed and loosely spaced you can walk in front of the first row and follow the action up and down the field.

Apparently, my opinions in the Athletic Department are considered the same as they are at home.

I don’t like this at all. Further from the food. I’m having a hard time seeing the rationale. Is being closer to the locker room really that important? Cmon.
Therefore, I will be sticking with tradition and staying put. Near the food, which is what really needs a change.

I'm guessing it's mainly due to the TV cameras just showing empty bleachers and a highway. Id have preferred moving the cameras across the field instead but maybe theres some reasons that's not possible. My recollection is that there was talk of moving TV, etc. to the visitors' side last year, but the cost was alleged to be in the $1M range. Unless we get BC or Notre dame to come to Fitton, the view of the big stands is going to be ridiculous - a few hundred fans in a space that probably holds 10-12 thousand! Literally 95+% empty.
Question: What are the restroom and concession areas like on the small side of the house? The visiting fans certainly won't have to wait for an open urinal! A few hundred? It may have looked that way, but. typically last season there. were always over 1000 in the homestands, and at times many more than that...hardly "a few hundred."

We might be overthinking this- going to be a lot of civil disobedience.

I’m in favor of this change - when someone (incl recruits) watch a game on espn they see a few hundred fans spread out on the north stands - it’s a bad (small time) football look. Now or fans will be packed into the stands spread from one 20 yard line to the other

Expect in the future a remodeled HC Stadium/Fitton will have a lower profile with fewer seats on the HC side. Overall seating would be in the 10-12 thousand range. Raise the field to a higher level. U shape remains in place( In no way should there be stands only on one side of the field.). Add brick facade with arches (fits in with the traditional New England red brick college buildings). And, provide the following amenities: improved food kiosks; modernized, more comfortable press box; expanded, updated more comfortable lockers; and, outdoor lighting. Natural grass remains! Would it be cost effective?

Perhaps the concessions will move. Not much sense in their serving fewer customers

Another thing is the teams will not be "crossing" each other to get on and off the field which can lead to negative interactions. I have been in quite a few confrontations with the teams crossing each other to get to their respective halftime areas. I was going to call them locker rooms but we know there isn't a visiting locker room at Fitton.

The teams will be stationed on different sidelines but the fans can still buy tickets for wherever they want as always. HC made it's analysis where best for each team to stand, fans can analyze where best to sit for themselves.

There is more room under the away stands and there is concession stands.
What we thinking for crowds next year 10k anything bigger?

With the Crusaders flipping sidelines, there may be more of a distribution of fans, throughout the stadium. Some will continue to sit on the south side out of tradition or habit. Change, for many, can be difficult to accept.
We will see… September 7th.

Is there a bathroom and running water in the VIP Box? There are two sections in the north side VIP Box. One for the President and his guest, the other for the AD. I have been told there is bathroom in the facility.

You can sit on any side of the stadium you want.
This is college, not high school.

Anywhere you want? Well, territoriality can play a role. I experienced what can happen when the "home" fans are hostile. At CCSU I sat across the field (ignoring a warning from several regular stadium staffers). The CCSU fans actually picked up names of some HC fans and checked them out on the internet. They then used cheers that attacked HC fan families in some vicious ways. The HC fans gathered around those being attacked and a serious brawl was avided only because a large number of stadium security forced the CCSU fans to move away. That was truly unique. I woud hope that never happens at HC and not just because so few visiting team fans actually show up.

I too have seen an issue at CCSU with fan interaction. It occurred several years ago at a game between Robert Morris and CCSU on 11/16/19. A very intense shouting match occurred which was close to a physical fight occurring. The CCSU fans instigated the confrontation.
For several years I have sat on the north side of Fitton. I always try to generate a positive interaction with the visiting fans, most likely they are parents of a visiting team player. Have had some informative insights regarding both teams, particularly their pre game scouting assessments. Most recently talking to several parents from UNH, Colgate and Georgetown have been enjoyable.

Pros:
1: Better sight lines for home team spectators? 2: Slight of hand with camera projecting larger crowds/more interest.
Cons:
1: Where will student section be? Not much room for alumni, parents and local spectators to get decent seats. 2: Distance from food and beverages... needless to say we need better options there also. 3: Actual room on sidelines for full home team plus athletic training staff will be an issue. Away teams don't show up with all their players or full staff.
Just some thoughts since I didn't receive anything from Athletic Department last year as a season ticket holder. Kind of a coincidence that they put this out the day that you can purchase season tickets. Supply and demand, less seats drives up interest and price very well thought out by the athletic department. Hoping to still be able to get something from the 40-40 yard lines..
See you all this weekend for the Spring Game!!!

I saw fans puking onto the visiting teams sidelines and minimal security.
