Jordan Faison‘s story reminds me a bit of Jim Brown, who was an All American in both football and lacrosse for Syracuse!

Playing two sports in college today is a rarity. I don't know that it was ever very common, but it wasn't unheard of. Now it's a big deal. Especially at a power conference level. Most recent Crusader I can think of is Derek Mountain who played football and did one year of basketball

Playing two sports in college today is a rarity. I don't know that it was ever very common In the mid 60s HC had John Wendelken,’65, Bud Knittel,’65, Tom Kelly,’67, Pete Kimener’67 and probably more. Also at Harvard John Dockery’66. In the mid 50s there was Ron Perry Sr ‘54 and more, no doubt. In the late 70s-early 80s there was Ronnie Perry Jr.

Hop Riopel will forever be known as "Mr. Holy Cross" for his years of dedicated service to the college. He was a three-sport standout at Holy Cross, earning an amazing 11 varsity letters as a Crusader.

Playing two team sports is definitely a rarity.

Billy Doran was a great baseball player, a first baseman, as well as a hoop star. I think a number of football players played baseball as well- Colin Clapton and Mickey Connolly come to mind but Jerome Fuller stands out as a star at both sports.

Tom Kelly’67 was a baseball All America and made the interception which led to the winning TD ( Lentz to Kimener) drive in our 1966 win at BC.

Obviously, Sluka could have been our best lax player ever along with being a super QB for us but that didn't happen.
Notre Dame's Faison doing sports at a high level in key positions for two national caliber teams is not necessarily unprecedented but extraordinarily rare nowadays. I'm not sure the respective head coaches deep down are necessarily happy with it but they both say all the right things in public and Jordan Faison helps both teams. Certainly didn't hurt when it came to landing the little brother (football schollie BUT perhaps the best lax player in his class in the country).
Trivia for the LI lax fans: Jordan Faison came north each summer in high school to play for Joe Spallina's club lacrosse team. Little brother does the same.

Speaking of Long Island lax, Shoreham-Wading River’s Xavier Arline has excelled at the USNA in football (QB) and lax.(second high scorer last spring)

Yes, track is a sport that is a little more common to have some athletes playing a team sport
Brian Reale '86 also played basketball and hoops.
There was a receiver on the football team not that long ago who played basketball one year. His name escapes me at the moment. I think he was before Mountain

Speaking of Long Island lax, Shoreham-Wading River’s Xavier Arline has excelled at the USNA in football (QB) and lax.(second high scorer last spring) Not sure I'd say excelled as he been in and out of the starting lineup as a QB for the struggling Navy football program over his career and his participation in lacrosse has been spotty (due to not playing as a frosh and various injuries since then) but the fact he's been on both rosters - especially considering the academic rigor at Navy - is quite an accomplishment. This could be a pretty good year for Navy Lax and having Xavier healthy for a full season will be a big plus.

If I remember correctly his teammate James Stowers '00 was 2 sport for a season or two while he played on the tennis team.
