A telling stat for Clark, besides the 3-9 from three, is that although she had 10 assists, she also had 6 of her team’s 14 turnovers Credit the HC D

For all the insults and other crap laid on Caitlin Clark in this thread, here are her quotes about Holy Cross after the game: "They gave us a good battle. They tested us, made us a little frustrated at times. I don't think Holy Cross had any starry eyes or anything". I don't necessarily like (all) Caitlin Clark fans, but I like and respect the hell out of Caitlin herself though.

For more perspective on Clark, check out the Iowa board (especially the last few pages of the game thread and the link below). Lots of Hawkeye fans thought she was a jerk. Her dad thought she was a jerk. Why? Maybe because she can be . . . a jerk. iowa.forums.rivals.com/threads/clark.440201/

Boston Globe print edition has a photo of Caitlin Clark on page 1 of the sports section with a referral to page 11 for the NCAA wrap up. There it does mention HC in the headline "Iowa Clobbers Holy Cross"(thanks Globe). Shaughnessy has the lead column on page one of the sports section but it's about the latest Apple TV ten part series on the Patriots. He calls it a Kraft hagiography and a hit job on Belichick.

That headline is an outrage and I just sent DS an email about it. The digital Globe had a much better headline and column and virtually all of the comments were pro HC.

Yep, sportsmanship personified. I'm not going to throw stones. CC handled the elbow to the face better than 99% of the sports world. #@*&$~! happens in competition, and she seems fully able to handle what she's given vs what she takes.

Has to be the Michigan game...so many fewer stations, higher probability TV's tuned in. Yes Iowa and Clark are incredibly popular, but there is a ton of alternate programming thanks to being up against Men's tourney. Number will still be huge though. US population 1977: 220 million US population 2024: 342 million Every young girl in the US who plays sports will be watching this game with their parents et al. Plus me, my wife and just about everyone I know who is interested in sports at all. Oh yeah, almost forgot to add people outside the US. I'm sorry, I didn't get the memo that all youth sports were cancelled yesterday so that "every young girl in the US who plays sports" can watch the game with her parents...if I knew that I clearly would have agreed with you

FB and WBB have gotten to the national post season four and three consecutive seasons recently. They are only 1-4 and 1-3 in those FCS, NCAA and WNIT games but we've been down so long each appearance is fabulous. Keep them coming. Spring sports still have an opportunity to join the party.

Spend the money to make it better- it doesn't take much more of an investment to jump a level or two
The school counts on us to fund this and that responsibility should be owned by the Administration and the Board
They are failing the student athletes of our school, while our competition does the opposite

I couldn't hear them at either game. Still glad they made the trip and showed the colors. I hope they mixed and mingled with the other bands out there and had a ball. The Iowa band was impressive.

You may or may not know this but things on TV can be taped now to view later, an option not available in 1977. Provide the stats to prove me wrong and dinner is on me. P.S. I will also wager that more people in Ireland watched HC/Iowa than watched HC/Michigan in 1977.

Generally with the NCAA there's set times for both teams bands to play and timeouts are assigned etc. From what I heard, sounds like Iowa just played over the GT Pep Band

Well, seeing how they've basically had zero coverage for most games, even home games that last few years, I guess we will have to settle for the crumbs. Remember the good old days when the T& G use to hire stringers for the away games? In particular, I remember a very good writer who covered the PA games & used to post on the board Chris Courogen (sp)? Chris was very knowledgeable about PL hoops and did the PL write-ups for Blue Ribbon Basketball Yearbook for a number of years. From the Where are They Now? files at LinkedIn: Looks like he gave up HoopTime 10 years ago.

She plays with an edge and a personality Much like other great players like Pistol Pete Yeah, but her on-court demeanor needs work....that stuff is not going to work at the next level... Yes, on the one hand getting (accidentally) punched square in the face really didn’t faze her (some/most) players would have gone nuts over it, but on the other hand her frustrations over her own play and no-calls in the first half were a bit dramatic/petulant. And she’s got to know the cameras and eyes are on her. Constantly. I’ve watched about ten of her games and in a couple she’s acted like this when frustrated.

After the game Clark said that BPC's elbow just grazed her nose. In other words, she took a dive. I appreciate that she also said she didn't think it was intentional, but she needs to work on her demeanor. Even many Iowa fans are fed up.

Thats funny, BPC seemed to think she smacked her pretty hard or at least that was the gist of BPC’s on and off the court apologies. And it is true CC brushed off the blow in post game comments and wasn’t looking to dwell on it.
