This evening is the 50th anniversary of probably the most significant event in my baseball lifetime ( which is saying something ), the 715th home run from Henry Aaron, 4th inning off Al Downing of the Dodgers....Classic Vin Scully call.......A no-show from Commissioner Bowie Kuhn.......Once of those events that you remember where you were when you saw it. He may not have been the GOAT ( a great debate ), but along with Babe Ruth and Jackie Robinson, may have been the most important.
Somehow, I don't feel the same way about # 756 from Barry Bonds

On the Mets-Braves broadcast Dusty Baker just gave great insight into Hank as Dusty is in Atlanta to celebrate 715.

He was in the on-deck circle.......also said it was the coldest night he ever remembers in an Atlanta ballpark......so not an easy night to hit one out

I once read a story on Hank Aaron in one those sport magazines when Hank was somewhere in the mid 600's of HRs. When asked how he was able to hit so many off of different pitchers he answered that when sitting in the dugout he watched the pitcher through the hole on top of his batting helmet. This way he only saw the pitcher & was able to study his motion. Seemed to work
