Best known for swapping wives with another player, he was a solid starter with 90 complete games.

Died....(not being a wise guy, you cut off the thread title!) Quite sure I typed "died" but I'm long winded. Probably the headline can only be so many characters.

I saw him get his 20th win of the season in 1970- last game of the season at Fenway
One other tidbit from that game. Yaz was in a battle with Alex Johnson of the Angels for the batting title. In one of his at bats Yaz hit a ground ball which an infielder booted, an obvious error. The official scorer hit the base hit button on the scoreboard ( or maybe did not hit the error button) giving Yaz a base hit and the stands broke out in laughter. Johnson ended up going 2 for 3 the next day winning the title with a .32899 batting average versus .3286 for Yastrzemski.

Twenty years later a player led the major leagues in batting average but did not win a batting title. Who was he?

1990 season? Well I just looked up the '90 Yankees BR page and definitely not one of the Bombers that year.

Had to look it up.... Eddie Murray!

Had to look it up.... Eddie Murray! I just checked out BR and was confused for a minute since he played entire season with Dodgers. He hit .330. Willie McGee won the NL batting title hitting .335 in what must've been a waiver-wire deal on August 29th of that year -- or was there a later trade deadline then? He had 501 AB and 540 PA, enough to qualify for the NL title over Murray. Murray, however, led all of MLB for the season because McGee hit just .274 in a month in Oakland and no one in the AL bested Murray's mark.
