DP felt he was one of the two players who showed the most in spring practice. That was before his four recruits show up. Wills was his first recruit before he had a full recruiting/portal season to work with. Hopefully he has recruited players who buy into the HC four year cycle. I hope seldom used players like Kirkwood stick around for the full four seasons. That's part of the deal, too.

Barring something wild and unforeseen, about 9 days from now, HC will be graduating recruited, four year members of the team for the first time in three seasons. Good that these kids are graduating. Horrible that it hasn't happened since 2021. 100 percent retention might not be realistic in 2024, but at least I'm optimistic the revolving door on the roster is over

Finally feels like we're putting together a collegiate basketball team with sufficient size (& hopefully skill). No disrespect to our recent former players, but it really feels like we've been undersized since the Milan Brown days (you could argue the early Carmody days...Brown's recruits). The facts support your belief. KenPom tracks the height of players on the floor, i.e. you could have a couple of 7-3 towers, but if they don't get playing time they don't make yours a tall team. Here's where KenPom has HC ranking in height among all D-1 teams. I'll list below the ranking for every other year, for brevity, and note that "08" means 2007-2008. 08= #26 10= #111 12= #265 14= #287 16= #249 18= #296 20=#112, an anomaly 22= #302 24= #309

Batch is kind of short. Kenney is short for his position. Not expecting the center spot to be of average height this year

I think sometimes your team ends up being short per KenPom’s calculations because you have one or two very short guards , e.g. when HC had both Justin Burrell and Anthony Thompson getting a lot of minutes. Last year we came out as short because we had few minutes by players 6-8 or taller. Tom notes this above

What is an academic summer session at HC, and how does it relate to the basketball team?

What is an academic summer session at HC, and how does it relate to the basketball team? $ummer $chool at a college where facilities traditionally generated little revenue during the best weather of the year so students could go home and work on the family farm or somewhere to earn money to help pay tuition. I don't know if it is a full and equal semester now. I hope they are getting tuition from outside students instead of just pushing existing HC student revenue from one semester to the summer. Regarding athletics, from the context of Crossports posts it is clear it helps programs like FB and BB have more practice time with players who attend summer session. I hope no players feel pressured to attend.

Anyone else get a Matt Faw vibe to Feroah? Stretch 4 that has shown an ability to block shots....Hoping Feroah has a more polished post game, but I see a lot of similarities.

Feroah may also be a better driver and passer. We'll see how his game translates at a higher level but if he's really 6-8 he's got some very unique skills.
