BC said they will be seeking a Jesuit to replace him. Good luck with that. IMO, he stayed too long, and the good candidates of 10-15 years ago are now in their late 60s, and 70s. Leahy was 48 when he became President of HC in 1996.
BC, Creighton, and Univ of San Francisco are the top tier Jesuit Colleges / Universities with Jesuit presidents. The President of Creighton might be a candidate; he will be 55 in 2026. He is from Nebraska, and his time with the Jesuits has been spent in the Midwest. But he is on the Board of Trustees at BC. Maybe the BC board likes him.
Of the 28 Jesuit Colleges and universities the other two headed by Jesuits are Regis and Rockhurst.
And Wheeling is no longer Jesuit.
