Just announced Dobber preseason 2nd team All Sun Belt LB by both Athlon and Phil Steele.
Lots of hype for our guy on the bigger stage.

PP, Good find. Xmassader, our resident Motown expert, must be on hiatus.

Schools like HC only get players of Jake's caliber every so often. That he was also a good student while on the Hill is welcome icing on the cake. Congratulations, Mr. Dobbs...and best of luck to you in your future endeavors, whether on the gridiron or otherwise. Crusader Nation will miss you!

Hadn’t seen the promo for this year’s banquet. Attended several years ago when Stan Grayson was inducted. Did see that Luke Newman is projected as a starting guard for Michigan State. As mentioned before, for several years, 3 of our 22 FB starters on championship teams came from the Detroit CHSL. Seems that we may have not tapped that source of talent as much in the last several years. Probably a good idea to renew that connection.

34. Jacob Dobbs, James Madison, linebacker
He became a fixture on the Freaks List when he was at Holy Cross, where he is the school’s all-time leader in tackles (432) and TFLs (46.5). Last year, he was No. 30 on the list after his comeback from a dislocated elbow, which resulted in a torn forearm, UCL and triceps tendon. Dobbs bounced back to run a laser-timed 3.98 shuttle and 4.59 40. He did 315 pounds on the bench for 12 reps en route to making 123 tackles with 12.0 TFLs, 6.0 sacks and three forced fumbles for the Crusaders. This offseason, the 236-pounder clocked a laser-timed 1.53 10-yard split. The best at the NFL combine for linebackers last year was 1.54.

College football’s top 100 transfers: What we’re hearing about 2024’s hottest newcomers: Some BIG names on this list. www.nytimes.com/athletic/5714910/2024/08/23/college-footbal-transfer-portal-rankings/?source=emp_shared_article33. LB Jacob Dobbs, Holy Cross → James Madison Dobbs has been on the Freaks List three years running, but he isn’t just a physical specimen; he knows every call and every check. After becoming Holy Cross’s all-time leader in tackles (432) and TFLs (46.5), he followed his head coach Bob Chesney to JMU. Although he will be going up against faster players at the FBS level, don’t be surprised if he leads the country in tackles.

Only two other FCS guys listed: Both we played against -
39. QB Max Brosmer, New Hampshire → Minnesota
Minnesota prioritized the FCS All-American who threw for 8,713 yards and 70 touchdowns in his New Hampshire career from the moment he hit the portal. A team staffer said Brosmer can make every throw, and the Gophers are expecting big things. “Instant leadership, instant quality,” the staffer said.
81. CB Ethan Robinson, Bucknell → Minnesota
Robinson was an All-Patriot League selection at Bucknell last year (10 pass breakups and three interceptions) and had more than a dozen power conference offers after he entered the portal. He had a terrific spring and strong camp and is slated to start at corner for Minnesota.
