He was the first and main guest interviewed on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert tonight. Toward the end of the interview, Stephen Colbert mentioned Dr. Fauci attending Holy Cross (Colbert’s father’s Alma mater as well), and then the doctor also mentioned Regis HS and spoke briefly about the mission of a Jesuit education: in service to/for others and to do good in the world.

Dr. Fauci was also interviewed on CBS Sunday Morning and said that growing up in Brooklyn his parents were guided by the idea of empathy for everyone, and this was further emphasized by his Jesuit education. A good and decent man.

The interview on Sunday morning was excellent, IMHO.

I don't generally read memoirs and autobiographies as I think very few people have the ability to reflect honestly about events in which they are involved. As the good doctor is one of us, I think I will make an exception.

Colbert's father was a Classmate of mine (HC '42). I saw the Colbert interview of Fauci but while Colbert seemed to try to coax the HC connection, it seemed that the good doctor was emphasizing the Regis Jesuit connection which "isn't too far from here." (Pandering to the NYC audience? )

Fathers of Colbert and Conan O'Brien went to HC. Need those two to contribute to 1843LLC.... Oops, sorry, this is supposed to be a "non-sports" thread.

Also, a great interview on Rachel Maddow last night. She set it up very well, and spent time on the abuse he has endured as a result of public service. His discussion of the difference between the attacks on him for AIDS vs COVID was very interesting and illuminating.

Have wondered if HC has tried to get them to HC. Perhaps a PPAC event. Don't know until you try. I've been pretty underwhelmed with the PPAC's programming to this point.

Colbert and Conan or Fauci & Maddow? Fauci has obviously been on campus. I suspect any of the 4 might be considered "controversial" nowadays to have on campus.

I can’t imagine that Colbert and O’Brien would have any real interest in Holy Cross

As I stated, rather try and fail then not try at all. If they decline so be it.

I think they've done a good job so far, bearing in mind that PPAC is a college performing arts center and not MSG. Rhiannon Giddens was a great get; I tried to get tickets but her show was sold out.

Dr. Fauci was on the NPR News Hour last night. Part 2 of his interview is tonight. He has been on quite a blitz.

Chu, that happens when you are trying to sell a book. Wouldn't bet against him preferring not to do it but the publisher insisting.
