Active period in recruiting has just begun. The following excerpt from the Massachusetts Inside the Huddle web site provides a good explanation of what to expect during this period.
***
Spring Evaluation Process For High School Juniors Begins on April 15th
We are coming up on a very important period of time in the high school football recruiting process as college recruiters are allowed to visit a junior year prospect’s high school from April 15th until May 31st. While recruits may already be taking unofficial visits to college junior days or just visiting a campus on their own, this is an important time when colleges can show they are interested in a prospect by meeting at the prospect’s high school with his coaching staff and administrators. This is known as the spring evaluation process and once this time period closes college coaches will not be able to visit high schools again until the fall. Colleges have the ability to visit a high school a maximum of two times during the spring evaluation process as they can evaluate the student-athlete’s athletic abilities on one visit and their academic qualifications on the other. They can also combine these evaluations into one visit at the high school and that would allow for one other visit to further evaluate the prospect’s athletic ability. If visiting college coaches happen to see a recruit at the high school they can say hello but they can’t engage in lengthy conversations. This is known as the NCAA “bump rule”. Also, during the spring evaluation process college coaches can make one phone call to high school prospects and prospects (or family members) are allowed to call coaches at their own expense. Prospects should make sure to have their high school coach collect business cards from visiting college coaches with a contact number and a good time to call them written on it. The spring evaluation process beginning on April 15th is a key time in the recruiting process as prospects should get a much better idea of which colleges are really interested in them and they will have an opportunity to communicate directly with the coaches by way of telephone calls.

I'm wondering if the new facility will be ready enough for tours next winter, for official football recruiting visits? With that 2019 schedule looming down the road, it would be a great time to land a few "reach" recruits.

I have to think that just having the facility under construction will be 90% as effective/persuasive with recruits as if it were already functioning

I was curious to see what type and how many offers were out at this time last year. I fully understand that what is reported on this blog doesn't mean Breezy captures 100% of the offers (although he does one heck of a job). At this time last year HC had 30 offers out by 4/25 - again, not validated. Right now as evidenced above we have 10. Of the 30 offers HC had out 1 committed (Degenhart), 1 decommitted (Kyle Moses) and the rest went to other schools.

My guess is that with some of the coaching staff changes we might be a week or two behind on recruiting but we will more than make up for it with the quality of the new additions to the staff.
