Article says he had 18 Division-1 offers. He also mentions the Luth Center and that Coach Chesney was a "real deal breaker"---interesting.....

Yeah, I smiled about the Chesney comment as I assume he meant a deal MAKER not deal BREAKER.

Perhaps he had made the decision to attend a different school and it was Chesney's presence that "broke" that deal and brought him to HC.

Perhaps, but not likely, IMO. He was offered early and committed just before the early signing date, which was only days after Chesney was announced as the new coach. Chesney probably spoke with him, but he had not announced any prior commitment.

Possibly, but announcing a formal commitment and having a preference are different things. Even in today's social networking blitz, not everything gets formally announced.
