Maybe we are looking to add a 1 year preferred walk-on as well (with a promise to convert to a scholly after). That is definitely one of the three options if we have serious interest: 1. PWO 2. We have an available scholarship of unknown origin. 3. We’ll ask him to do a prep year.

Guess it's time to start tracking the possibility of somebody new coming in next year.
List of players with confirmed contact, based on twitter and other on-line sources. Additions/corrections as needed, please.
INTEREST ONLY Cedrick Jones, SG, 6-3 (prepping at Combine Academy, NC) Luke Toliver, SG, 6-4 (Paw Paw, MI). Yarden Willis, C, 7-0 (prepping at Combine Academy, NC)

Twitter says we’re visiting Michigan senior guard Luke Toliver. Serious shooter. Preferred walk-on offer at Western Michigan. 6’4” now but only 17 years old and maybe still growing. Averaging 30+ ppg. Item on Toliver from Michigan Live in January. Maybe Carmody & Co. watched him during their recruiting swing through Michigan and Illinois last September. www.mlive.com/sports/kalamazoo/index.ssf/2018/01/meet_paw_paws_luke_toliver_an.html

intriguing prospect for sure - his profile says his birth date is may 1, 2000 - so he's really not young for his class - he'll be 18 soon.

With all of the kids being held, reclassifying, doing a prep year, etc., I think Toliver would definitely be in the youngest quintile among D1 freshman basketball players next year.

just watched the replay of the coaches' show from last night. Coach was not ready when Lutsk asked him 'what's the scholarship situation for this year' - Carmody dodged it a bit by just saying he's happy with the players they have coming back. very surprised Lutsk put him on the spot when he should know the sensitivity of the matter.
skills practice with the players (2 hours per week) starts now.

Toliver sounds like he is a shooter, but not much more. However, can he be projected 2 years down the road to improve as much as JF has? If so, he has a great up side, as his coach said....Does he have the foot speed and quickness to play at HC, those are 2 measures that separate players at the D-1 level..with a 3.4 GPA can he get enough academic scholarship money to come to HC? ??

Toliver already has a PWO offer from Western Michigan ( a half-hour drive from Paw Paw) which, in a couple different articles, he calls his "dream" school. Hard to imagine him considering anything less than a full scholarship here.

I don’t have any reason to think we are actively recruiting him but a few people who pay attention to CT high school basketball have recently told me about a kid named Mikey Buscetto from Waterford, CT who they believe could be a very good low-mid D1 player. He’s only 5’10” but apparently quite a passer and scorer. He is committed to D2 powerhouse Southern New Hampshire. He was allegedly getting some PL interest. Here’s an article about his recent state championship win. www.google.com/amp/www.courant.com/sports/high-schools/hc-sp-hs-boys-bb-20180318-story,amp.html

Only press I saw was about the verbal. Verbal commits says he has made a verbal but no mention of an LOI.

A 5’10” guard, point, I presume would have to be very good, since it is unlikely he would play much, if any, next season. So unless he is better than CG, he seems to be destined to be a backup until his senior year. Unless he is so good that he could play with CG his soph and junior years.
