It will be nice when an offer from HC (and commitment from the recruit) raises the stars (as does a Power 5 offer now). I trust our coach's decisions about the value of recruits more than any detached rating system. But, that is just my opinion.

Chesney has very quickly moved Crusaders into the conversation certainly for PL title and nationally. I see him as a challenge to all other PL teams to do better. He has raised the bar for all of us which can only be a good thing for the PL. The standard excuses, while real, no longer carry the same weight to explain PL's competitiveness outside the league. He has shown that it is possible to get the players we need. Up to the rest of us to get our own acts together.

Thanks, Rich —
I do think we have a very good recruiting class with some real “difference makers” but, as you say, only time will tell if it pans out as we hope. I also think Coach Gilmore will give the Lehigh program a shot in the arm. In just a year or two, Holy Cross, Colgate, Lehigh, and Fordham will be waging some titanic battles for preeminent position in the Patriot League.

Chesney over-recruited at Assumption. Talent level for the Greyhounds jumped leaps and bounds while he was there. Hopefully he has brought that with him.

Most folks have short memories....we're seeing it here.
For many fans, the difference in personalities, enthusiasm, how practices are run and shared with the public plus game-day preparation have been dramatic between Gilmore and Chesney.
Lehigh folks may have been starved for a change....outsiders like us will have to see how that works out. I've no idea if Gilmore will have the positive impact on Lehigh football that Chesney has had at HC.

mm67 - I personally think they got three of them in this class with Blessing, Hanson and McMurtie - 6'8, 6'5, 6'5 - 310, 295, 285; Plus the Junior class is loaded with Bowler, Foley, Brekke along with Boddy, Dennis, etc. I think with 18 OL on the roster they are well stocked.
I do agree with you on the D Line. I think we need another D Lineman based on what has left. Although LB thin are think there are ways to beef it up with Stananik, Knight, Doran, etc.

HC needs "Earth mover" on "O" line; big run stopper on "D" line. Love HC Umm have you not seen what OL recruots Blessing, Hanson and McMurtrie look like? Agree on DL.

It looks like Mason Copley has been moved from te to dline.

Yes — saw that. As I alluded to previously, Copley was recruited as a DL, and was (I believe) moved to TE last season due to an injury to another player. Good to see he is back to DL.

I just took a look at the roster. Teeter moved to WR from TE. Numbers including the 4 verbals are:
20 DB 7 LB - still think Knight, Stefanik, Kortebein could move based on their size 11 DL 19 OL 4 P/K 5 QB 7 RB 12 WR 4 TE - very light with only Morris, Mountain, Pirwitz, Kuznetsiv
1 roster spot left at this time. And there was still 1 verbal we are waiting on based on the Scott James smoke signal.

I thought Teeter might get moved---light for a tight end and was a prolific pass catcher in high school. Let's see what he can do as a wideout

HC with 7 in the top 30 of PL Class rankings by Hero.
Doesn’t even include Dobbs, Forrest, Asante,
Fordham - 8 HC and Colgate with 7.
HC assembling incredible class per Hero.

"The Leader: Holy Cross is dominating the 2018-2019 recruiting scene and will figure prominently in the national rankings on Feb. 11. This is just a flat out incredible class head coach Bob Chesney and his staff are putting together."

I don't think Lehigh's first group was overwhelming (spying on their forum) and Coach TG is doubtlessly scrambling for the second date. It is much much better to load up on talent on the front end IMHO and recruiting may not be TG's strength. Herosports seems to like both of our QBs: herosports.com/fcs/recruiting-2019-quarterback-commitments-ajaj One can read between the lines with Coach Chesney going hard after two quality ones.

I think they plan on Kreimer being a WR based on his signing day clip and he’s a WR on the roster.

The ranking game is a flawed science no doubt. But I would certainly argue that the teams with the best ranked classes year in and year out have the best chance at winning.

Most interesting development is Georgetown who apparently is recruiting very well - If they adopt the aggressive Ivy model, and it seems they are doing just that, and given their academic reputation, I can see them being very competitive on the field going forward.

Most interesting development is Georgetown who apparently is recruiting very well - If they adopt the aggressive Ivy model, and it seems they are doing just that, and given their academic reputation, I can see them being very competitive on the field going forward. The HYP model now involves applying their extraordinarily generous financial aid (never loans, BTW) to all qualifying students (including recruited athletes). I would assume most/all of their players essentially attend for free (knowing their school-wide financial aid practices).
Given Georgetown's resources there is absolutely no way they can offer similarly generous financial aid to all their qualifying students (including recruited athletes).
At the same time Georgetown might be able to offer their athletes need-based grants-in-aid to qualifying students while doing things differently with qualifying non-athletes. That may be similar to the OLD Ivy model. Agree their academic reputation is an advantage.
