Apparently the last shot was after the clock sounded. What's with the knee brace? Bad knee a la MP? Dunno. How about a walk on and a promise if the knee holds up and there is contribution then a three year scholarship. Does that pass muster?

Here is a brief clip at the 1;35 mark This was the championship game Here's the whole game, if anybody wants to watch. Also worth watching in this game is St. Benedict's Jake Betlow (#1), a 2019 in whom we've shown some interest.

I wonder if the timing of the announcement is indicative that he is a preferred walk-on.
Most colleges have a May 1 deadline decision date for enrolling Freshman students. I would think a preferred walk-on would have the same decision date.

In all fairness, we have a tweet from a kid saying he committed combined with a picture of him shooting a ball with an HC logo in the corner.
Granted the kid is 6'8" and played for a good program, but nothing has been said that he is going to be playing at HC at all. It's a reasonable assumption that he's hoping to have some role on the team and he has some level of promise from HC, but there are really almost no hard facts here
FWIW, I think it's reasonable to assume that HC would issue something if this kid was going to be on scholarship. Probably as soon as a letter of intent was signed. Based on the Powers article I posted above and the silence from the school when he came to town, I also think it is reasonable to assume that if he is a preferred walk-on, we will know nothing until the on-line roster is updated

Powers came in with some fanfare. Someone posted he might even get minutes some day. Of course after he arrived we soon learned he was a practice player.
Welcome to young Lovisolo. Go Cross Go!

Can anyone read that full article to see if it says anything about preferred walk on? I get the first line or two only, then blocked content

What’s coach Joe alluding to here?

Can we just legitimately recruit a damn 6'11" center already? How hard can this be for a team that fancies itself a D1 program, as reportedly has such high aspirations? What is this BS?

Isn't that what this thread is? The title is COMMITTED!
This gets tiring - this whole diatribe about some student athlete coming to HC and no one knows if he's a walk on or on scholarship or what, everyone tweeting and speculating, saying the kid has a limp or whatever. Furthermore, in light of all the nonsense still going on for months and months about suspensions, lack of info, certain people missing from certain photos, all of this, are example of the type of crap that a lot of folks are getting tired of. Seems like HC fans love HC basketball more than the college in many ways.

What’s coach Joe alluding to here? I asked the same thing. Apparently (only two sources) the opinion of some early on was that his insight game was "soft." I think the coach says that is why some may still feel this way, despite the progress he has shown in the last two seasons.

There are VERY few midmajors with competent 6-11 centers. For example, Iona - who dominates the MAAC - started a 6-8 center, and his backup was 6-7. Vermont, who dominates AE, has no-one taller than 6-8. The Ivy champs, Penn, had no-one taller than 6-8. Loyola (Chicago) had one rotation player taller than 6-6, and that player only played 59% of the minutes. For that matter, Villanova had no-one on their roster taller than 6-8. It seemed to work out OK for them.

They're out there. I see them every weekend at AAU. 6'10", 6'11" guys. They don't all become starters at P5 schools. Some go and are back-ups, others walk on, others go to mid and low majors, D2, or D3, some quit, some get hurt. They are there. Give me another Matt Husek any day of the week. If HC wants to compete with schools like yours, it has to find a way.
As for Villanova, give me one person at HC with even close to the talent level of one of their starting 5 and their NBA caliber 6th man in Divencenzo and I will quit harping on my 6'11" center dreams.

CBC said he’s not a good salesman. Best salesman of late was coach e, fwiw. You clearly know a lot more about what's going on than most (or almost everyone) around here, ncaam, but the second half of that statement is outrageous. Coach e was just along for the ride with FCMB.

Coach E inherited a perennial loser at SVC; but is 104-34 as head coach since leaving HC. But I guess you are what your record says you are.
