If we are giving an additional scholarship this year or next, I think a great complement to this group would be a throw back power forward—a slightly less talented version of John Pinone (Nova) or John O’Connor would be great for the current group

John O'Connor was a nice player for us particularly before his Achilles injury but I wouldn't put him close to the caliber of Pinone. You are right though that we could use a classic power forward type player.

Don’t disagree with the assessment at all (although we did come close to getting Pinone), but with that type of player the others on the team become that much better.

Anyone else wondering why we would be recruiting a 2020 pg with a very good sophomore point guard and a highly rated incoming pg arriving in the fall. Seems like we have far greater needs elsewhere and not many scholarships available over the next year to address those needs.

Our early interest in Downing pre-dated Lowder's commitment - doubt we are much interested anymore. Unofficial visit doesn't carry much, if any, significance.

Yes, many carry no significance whatsoever. If a player says he wants to visit, coaches normally will say OK - even if they have no interest. You never know when things will change. And even if nothing changes, no reason to get his coaches mad by not letting the kid stop by.

BC had been the #1 scoring team in the state (over 88 pts per game) and winners of the PALM BEACH NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT. The game was played at a neutral court (Don Bosco Tech). BC is currently 7-0. Interesting side note, BC scrimmaged at GSB before the regular season. The BC folks were most impressed by the defense of GSB (who led by 7 at the half) in this most recent game.

GSB lost their first game to a strong Bergen Catholic team, 49-48( no shot clock state] Martini- 9, 6, 4, 2 Soucie- 14, 3, 0, 1 Why no shot clock in this day and age? Cannot be helping the development of the players in that area; although for high school ball I do think it should be 35-40 seconds.

That game was an outlier. BC was averaging 88 ppg at the time. There is no great need for a shot clock in NJ.

There is a great need for a shot clock in every state. Players who will play in college are at a distinct disadvantage without them and all players would benefit from them. Few states have them.
