Bergen Catholic HS just won their state sectional title in NJ. They beat Gil StBernard by 1 point (49-48) on a neutral court early in the season. GSB is a strong team!

I was talking to a coach in the MA Dual VAlley Conference. Amazingly in a tiny school, the Vander Baan kid at Whitinsville Christian is no relation to Alex.
My guess is they are related some how, but more distant than first cousin

If a 7 footer can't lead his school to victory (or close to that) in Mass. Division 4, I don't think he's the prospect that some here are making him out to be.
Then again, a place like HC might be perfect for him. Work on weights, etc. for two years and really contribute for two.

How many projects can a successful program take on. VB sounds like a Verbeek clone.

I am in favor of 1 project in a 4 year cycle, and no more.

It's NERR, whose evaluators are more trustworthy and savvy than anybody on this board - and they currently consider JVB the 13th best prospect among all New England 2020s.

The other schools only had interest.

He is a good player. I have seen him since his freshman year and know his fine coach very well. His older brother has been to 3 D1s. I believe that the dad, an incredible 50 year old player, wants the younger brother to go to a school where he will most likely play for 4 years.
