Fair amount of frosh on the 2 deep....could take that either way I suppose.
Has a different HC QB from the same HS ever succeeded one who has graduated? I don't know the answer btw....

It's good to see Tenio Ayeni on the two deep. I believe he was missing from the media day photos causing some of us to be concerned about the status of this high potential receiver

Interesting that Corey Stefanik moved from LB to DB.

That's the first thing that struck me. I tried to go back into the archives and find two-deeps from lasts season but was not able to find them. Perhaps someone more adept at searching than I can find the old two-deeps-the opening day one would make for a great comparison. Surprised to see Derek Mountain at #1 tight end: good for him.

For a "rebuilding" team, we sure have a lot of senior starters (15).

Wonder how many schools run a 4-2-5 (on paper) defensive alignment.

Wonder how many schools run a 4-2-5 (on paper) defensive alignment. Very interesting--maybe Stefanik is ultimately a hybrid LB/DB depending on the down, distance to first down, etc??

I can't give details or specifics (because I don't know) but my impression is that the 4-2-5 is becoming more prominent in college football.
Colgate's alignment (on paper) seems to be a 3-4-4.

Wonder how many schools run a 4-2-5 (on paper) defensive alignment. I suspect the SS ( Stefanik ) will be more a Rover depending on down and distance....and of course the opponents' offense.

4-2-5 is a nickel defense.
Perhaps HC fears Colgate's passing more than its running, or perhaps HC -- with Chevalier done -- doesn't have enough experienced depth at linebacker.

I believe it is not specific for Colgate. It was obvious in the spring game that the 4-2-5 would be the basic alignment -- subject to change as specific circumstances dictate.

Does 251 represent a significant bulk up for Mountain? Didn't think he was that big as a hoops walk on.

OL smaller than in the past few years. Of course, that could be because they don't update player weights on the roster.
