For those interested, due to the approaching hurricane, the start of this game has been moved up from 8 pm to 5:30 pm on ESPN Thursday night.
As I posted yesterday, Addazio is now dirt to me and really hope the Deacs can beat BC as a 6-point dog. Wake is a little beat up on D but the game is a sell-out...although I believe there's a state of emergency now in NC which may result in some folks not going particularly if weather turns ugly.
Win or lose BC may not be returning to Logan for a couple days.

At the moment I'm finding myself rooting for BC. Is it strange that I'm not at all angry that the Eagles attempted a couple of passes in the RZ with their third offense in the game?
I have a hometown friend who wine to Wake (as did his wife) so I always root for them to do well. But BC being nationally relevant for the first time in about ten years is good for college football in New England overall. I hope to see them in the Top 25 this year.

No problem 2010....understand.
This storm is huge and a lot of games have been cancelled...this is the only one still on....might still be cancelled

Doesn't sound like any games have been moved to alternate locations i.e. the away team. This is the biggest storm to hit NC in decades if it remains at projected strength, more important things to worry about than football logistics.

I have since 1963 and will continue to root against BC in everything.

A few unrelated points.
Nothing Addazio did bothered me. Pretty much ran basic plays, didn't give his future opponents much to look at. Doesn't help Holy Cross' future performances either if they know every play is going to be a run.
At least HC's qb's didn't throw a lot of short passes across the middle to stationary receivers. I still have bad memories of Steve DeOssie destroying a Holy Cross receiver at Foxborough on a pass that should never have been thrown.
I hope those making the decision on the game are 100% sure that a charter plane (or at least some buses heading north/northwest) will be able to leave WF between 10 and 11 PM tomorrow night. Given it's a league game they don't want to lose (and there is no makeup date available) I would have moved the game to Boston.

The timing and track of the storm as of this morning is making this game more likely to be played in reasonable conditions. the track is now heading southwest after it arrives on the N.C. coast early Friday morning.

While my golfing trip to Charleston in November might be in question if courses are flooded, it does look good for BC-Wake. Does anyone know how extensive a role TG has with the Wake defense? I don't know whether to root for a 62 point blowout or a big stand by the Deacs. Guess I can't root for BC

I was brought up in a family that when we are not playing BC (and when we do, we want to beat them badly), we support a fellow Jesuit school.
But even without that, I hope BC does very well. Losing 62-14 is bad, of course, but the better BC is and the higher their ranking, a little bit of the bitterness goes away knowing we lost to an excellent and talented team. If they fail, our loss looks even worse. So, while I hope they do well for positive reasons, there should be enough "negative" reasons to root for them to do well.
Just a thought.

31, as I posted in another thread, he is a Defense Analyst that scouts opponents (not a coach per se). I have been in touch with him but both he and I chose not to discuss his workings against BC for Wake. Here's the Wake bio again: wakeforestsports.com/coaches.aspx?rc=180&path=football

I think I read somewhere that BC isn't scheduled to charter to Triad International ( Greensboro ) until around 1 pm today so all parties to game - Wake, BC, ESPN - must decide on go no go on game shortly. The airport is about 8 miles East of Wake.
This is a huge league game for both.

In addition to fierce winds, reports of 15 to 30 inches of rain probable.
If any of you have vacationed down there you know how flat and marshy most of the area is and I'm afraid the tidal surge, high tides and torrential rain will destroy all those lovely golf courses along/near the coastline.

There might be 5,000 folks at the game.

Both schools must agree to the move, and zero shot WF would.

Looks like there should be no meaningful weather impact at Wake Thursday early evening. The Beagles will be safely back in Chestnut Hill before the storm arrives.

I hope BC creams everybody on their schedule this year, now that our game is over. They were very classy about the renewal of our series, and their coach was also classy in the way he substituted and handled the game. It could have been much worse for us. They look to be loaded, and will be a fun team to follow.

Plus, given original storm track, Wake probably wouldn't have been able to return to Winston-Salem until maybe Sunday at best.
Storm now looking to slow/stall along coast and maybe move S/SW inland with horrible rain and severe flooding.

A home made sign in Wake's student section....
"Hey Dillon, you'll never be like Doug Flutie, that's why you're #2 !"
