We seem to have a multitude of talented players to utilize more. At this level, barring an inordinate number of injuries, what I’m noticing is that it really takes a certain amount of talent to be competitive. I believe scholarships allow us to achieve a baseline parity. More is not necessarily better. The Ivies can game the financial aid system to load their rosters but there’s only ever going to be 11 guys on the field no matter what. It’s really about keeping the stables full by good recruiting and then from there is coaching and player development. Clearly we have the players and they players are now getting developed better, mentally and physically.

What are the odds there are meetings going on right now in New Haven to try to find a way out of the rest of this series? History tells us they only like to play when we’re down.

I am not sure if that is the case. After all, they really handed it to us for a long time. With their coach and players, they may be having meetings but I believe they are to find ways to get better and to try to turn the tables on HC next season.

And if they don’t like playing us first they should talk to the Ivy League about their antiquated system of starting their season later than every other FCS conference. Seems like folly.

That’s not the way they’ve operated vis-a-vis HC for a long time. I’ll make a bold prediction that if we beat them next year in the Yale Bowl, the remaining 9 games of the agreed series through 2028 will be terminated by Yale. Something like 8 of the 33 games in the all-time series have been played at HC.

The video of Ng's FG has been viewed 35,000 times as of 10 AM. ______________________
Down 21-0, and with the play-calling largely a repeat of the first two games, I figured the team would be fortunate to win three games this season.
After Wade leads the team to two scores, Clifford returns as QB. I am thinking, this is a reprise of the revolving door rotation of quarterbacks that we saw in the BC game. The next series gained little, and Wade returned to stay. The revolving door rotation at BC told me that the coaches couldn't make up their mind. I am at a loss to explain the thinking yesterday that had Clifford returning at that point.
If Wade stays healthy, this team could win seven games. HC catches a schedule break with UNH. UNH traveled to Colorado yesterday, and travels to Elon this coming Saturday. The UNH Wildcats could be road-weary.

I know when Clifford came in after Wade who had led the team to two touchdowns was a shocker to me. I was dead wrong by saying they should play Clifford. He is not ready yet. They need to stick with Wade, he runs that offense so much better and can escape and throw on the run. At this rate Wade is a way better quarterback.

Our little group sat right behind RB Bruno's parents. He will be good as well. Mom looked to have some micro video machine so I will bet she got some nice shots. I noticed on Dad's parent game pass that in very small print that I would never be able to read without glasses, it had the HC roster info. BTW, while I didn't necesarily agree, one in our group thought when we were down 28-21 that Yale looked "beat." When we tied and went OT, I was a little surprised when Yale got stopped a couple of times that they didn't just go for a chippy field goal but suspect they thought we had the momentum and that if they got a FG, we would get a TD. I felt good about OT for the same reason...HC looked fresher, defense played better in Q4 than the other three. Can't remember the last time I felt that way, I'm usually the one screaming for them to go for two instead of tying it up That would be me that made the comment as HC scored to make it 28 -21 and the Yale team was was walking to the sidelines. To be exact, my comment was "Yale looks like a bunch of beatin dogs"! ! They looked "gassed" with their heads hanging down! Yes, it is a wonderful fact that we are a well conditioned team! Something that we have not been for many years! A few comments... 1.) Just finished reading all the comments in this thread from page 1. Pretty sure some posters would have paid big money in the first quarter to put nails in the OC's coffin! ! 2.) Good crowd! But those who left at halftime (and there were many) and those who tailgated the entire game missed something special! 3.) The younger players are getting on the job experience and doing very well! 4.) Have to love the sight of Chesney and his father hugging each other on the field after the W! 5.) Have to give credit to S Gilliam who took a vicious hit and still held on to the ball late in the 4th quarter. He wobbled off the field (his mom and dad sitting in front of us - very concerned), took a few squirts from a water bottle then stood up! His mom then gave him a "thumbs up"! While he was down on the ground #43 from Yale walked right by clapping his hands and applauding his teammates vicious hit! But, in the end it was S Gilliam who caught the tying TD pass and got the last laugh! ! 6.) Great win that will add a little bounce and swagger to their steps going up the hill to practice this week!

HC put up 31 points against the favorite to win the Ivy League. I'd say the OC did a fine job. Clifford, as a scholarship player, should take some blame for not getting the job done. Wade is the better option at this point. This should be obvious to everyone.
Yale will not cancel the series. Reno actually plays a good non conference schedule compared to his Ivy counterparts.

Looking at QB performances in the Colgate and Yale games, I am assuming Wade will be the starter going forward.
(As another poster noted, Chesney must have seen something in Clifford to throw him out there given Wade's pretty successful performances a few years ago.)

13 freshmen played yesterday, and no doubt we all noticed that Spencer Gilliam caught the game-tying touchdown and classmate Derek Ng kicked that game winning long field goal.

I think we will see stronger recruits coming in (as a group) each year under Coach Chesney. I LIKE IT!

for me, key play in the game was the successful on side kick in the first quarter. there are some complaints about our poor play calling later in the game but this play was huge. 1) it worked and led directly to our 2nd td; 2) told yale and our fans that despite being deep in the hole we are going all out to win this game or die trying:
that play plus the never quit spirit shown by H.C. players and coaches the 1st 3 games of this season means a bright future for Crusader football.

Let’s hope Cozier and /or Alexander are back for Dartmouth The way Alexander was jumping around and hyping up the team after OT coin toss, I imagine he was being held out for concussion precautions. His helmet smacked the Yale bench pretty bad. He looked to be fine and should be cleared.

The excitement and the energy exhibited by our team yesterday also made impressions on several recruits who were present. Here's one example.

I believe Colin Glenn is a QB, LB, Punter, Kicker from Concordia Prep in Pennsylvania (Or maybe the school is in Maryland and he is from PA?)
