Kevin Nickelberry out at Howard.
Have to think that Milan Brown will be on the short list at his alma mater. It might be a substantial pay cut from his current gig at Pitt, though.

Nickelberry was 96-193 at Howard over nine years, 17-16 in the regular season this past year - only winning record of his tenure. He had gotten in some hot water in the last year or so - a couple ex-players sued him and the school alleging verbal abuse, and he was disciplined after an on-court team brawl with Norfolk State.
The program has been awful for 20+ years - not sure MB would want it, money issues aside.

All fair points. It's a tough job, no doubt. But CMB has deep ties to the DMV area, still has a young family and may want to get back there. He can probably parlay the above concerns into an extra-long-term contract that lets his family re-establish roots in the DMV for the duration of his kids' childhood.

I think in five years this will look like a bad decision by St. Joes. It was reported that Langel was also in the mix. I would take him any day ahead of Lange.

Nate Oates from Buffalo to Alabama! He signed a "contract extension" ten days ago at Buffalo, which just proves how meaningless these extensions are.

Nate Oates from Buffalo to Alabama! Just six years ago Nate Oats was a high school coach. Dan and Bobby Hurley recruited EC Mathews from his Romulus High-MI team to URI. Bobby then later hired him to be his assistant when he took over Buffalo where he was on the bench for two seasons. He then took over for Hurley as head coach for four seasons and led the Bulls to three NCAA tournaments, won two NCAA games in consecutive years, and had them nationally ranked for most of this past season. Very quick rise.

St Joe's fired Martelli to hire a coach with a lifetime D1 record at Navy of 93-113 in six seasons?

To be fair, we know that the jobs at Army and Navy are unique. I think there were better candidates than him, but I also don't know how he's progressed as a coach since he left Navy.
The biggest question I would have is how he will be as a recruiter, something that he hasn't had to do in quite some time.

I would hope Alabama will goto Buffalo for a Gabe next year as part of Oates leaving. Is this post serious ? Why thank you for asking. Yes it is. I know mid majors have started putting that in their contracts of their coaches. If they leave besides the buyout the coaches team would play them in a home game. The most recent example is Rutgers playing at Stony Brook.

I certainly believe that, but Alabama traipsing to Buffalo in the winter is a far cry from Rutgers driving up the turnpike and out on the LIE to Stony Brook. That game would hurt Alabama’s OOC NET. But i guess you could be correct if it was actually in his Buffalo contract.

I suspect Alabama will package it with a football game the same weekend and then plan some alumni events in greater Buffalo.
