I watched the Army/Harvard game in Hartford last week. Burg, who beat HC in game 3, was throwing 94. I watched game 3 live and could tell he was throwing hard, didn't know it was mid-90s

HC had at least 3-4 guys throwing 90+ this year, and freshman throwing 87-88.

There is no way HC had 4 pitchers throwing 90+ regularly this year. Likely DC and maybe a freshman but others??? The BC ace beat #7 Louisville last week with a complete game win and a 3 hitter and didn't hit 90 once the entire game. Did a dad have the gun!

Cronin hit 95 when pitching at LSU. McGowan was 90-91, Mckennitt was 88-90, and I believe Lopes was the other guy that was 90ish. Dawson was the freshman lefty who was 87-88.

And? What's your point? That those who don't throw 90 can be successful?

Greg Maddux, for example

Ok, so it wasn't Lopes I was thinking of, but there were at least 3, but I believe 4 in that game that were throwing over 90. There are plenty of guys throwing 90+ in the PL now. 15-20yrs ago, you'd be lucky to see 2-3 in a season.

Cadets having a tough time in Lubbock - lost to host Texas tech yday 11-2 and losing today vs. Florida 10-zip in the 5th. Always hope for a respectable showing from our PL rep, but it’s not meant to be this year

Interesting that Song was not the first draftee from the PL - Levi Stoudt, jr pitcher from lehigh went 97th overall in the 3rd round to Seattle

stoudt in the 3rd round is slotted at $600k. As a junior, he will obviously sign. Song in the 4th is slotted at 400k-500k. But he is a senior and loses leverage and has to balance a flight career vs a dream that includes driving on a bus for years and years. Plus team has to pay the NAVY $250K for his education. Tough call.

Head for the skies. Easier to attain a Navy pension after 20 years than an MLB pension after 5 years. Then it's on to the airlines.
