HLS an abbreviation for Harvard Law School ?
Interesting and Ill informed observation on his part. Wonder who was his people and who was your people? What was his reference?

“Your people” refers to the Wild Irish, of course, a race of rough around the edges hooligans, superstitious papists.
“Our people” in contrast is the WASP aristocracy, the rightful rulers of the lands

Donahue, started at HC in his mid 30s Blaney, was 32 or 33 Raynor, was 42 or 43 Willard, 54 or 55 Kearney, just turned 50 Brown, 39 or 40 Carmody, 64. Someone Raynor or Brown's age seems like the likely choice. Remember this, when you are in your teens, they all look old. Looking back, can't believe George Blaney was only 32 when I first knew him; and Jack Donahue seemed about 10 years older than he was as well. I remember an older wasp colleague, Amherst/HLS, who once said to me years ago, '...your people age like hell, but your minds age better than my people' I regret my attempt at humor. timholycross’ observation of Blaney & Donahue struck me as humorous comment about the Irish, but in context it wasn’t. Likewise I did not put my colleague’s comment in the context it was offered 25/30 years ago. We were discussing his interaction with elderly Irish priests in a retirement home in his neighborhood. My friend & mentor was sincere when he said he enjoyed the wit and wisdom of these men and hoped he would be as with it at their age. He then offered the comparative statement that amused both of us.

Yes ...completely coincidence that the two men I thought looked older were of Irish lineage.

I look so old I scare myself in the morning. There may be something to it.

HoopDirt reporting today that the new coach will be in place no later than July 10th. Their info is often unreliable, but interesting speculation nonetheless.

Would think a July 8-10 date is the initial date targeted for a hire. Three weeks from resignation to hire seems fairly typical, but with the transition to a new AD it will certainly be a test for ADMB. Hoop Scoop may have gotten their scoop from 8485.

Since it's reported as "word on the street" I guess that gives me street cred?!?

Should I assume that this is NOT Peter Parker (a/k/a Spiderman) that he is referencing?

Yes, often unreliable. Often taken from message boards. Start a thread that Pitino has interviewed for the job and it will show up on their site within the hour.

Krikorian is an interesting name. Played JV basketball under Steve Donahue at Penn. Assistant at Lafayette. Got Christopher Newport to DIII Final Four 2 of the last 4 years. Grew up in Auburn and married a local girl that went to Wachusett High School Listen to an interview with Kosmalsky yesterday - he remarked how well-prepared Christopher-Newport always seemed to be. They've been among the best defensive teams in the country for awhile (led the country in defensive FG% in 2016-17) and consistently rebound the ball well, too. Seems he should get some serious consideration.

I’m very interested to see if any of these D2/D3 guys are actually being considered, or if everyone here is looking in a totally different direction than Blossom and Parker. Per a Jeff Goodman article, Parker hired 6 MBB coaches this year: Buffalo: Jim Whitesell (59, Assoc HC at Buffalo, former head coach) Georgia State: Rob Lanier (50, Assistant at Tennessee, former head coach) St Joes: Billy Lange (47, Assistant for 76ers, former head coach) George Washington: Jamison Christian (37, Siena Head Coach) Appalachian State: Dustin Kearns (39, Presbyterian Head Coach) Northern Kentucky: Darrin Horn (46, Texas Assistant, former head coach) Every hire was either a D1 or NBA guy and they all had previous D1 head coaching experience. I hope we aren’t throwing away another $75K for a search firm’s recycled name like the last disaster they brought us.

I believe the search firm just conducts the preliminary screening.

Search firms are terrible and just provide a cover for those making the hire.
HC used Parker to hire Blossom. Blossom is using Parker to assist in the men’s basketball coaching search.
And when Parker has been retained by a bigger school for their AD search, you know Blossom will be considered for that job.
Very incestuous.

Been that way for a long time, in most fields of endeavor. When I was young and naive, I thought people were hired and promoted based on merit.
