Search firms are terrible and just provide a cover for those making the hire. HC used Parker to hire Blossom. Blossom is using Parker to assist in the men’s basketball coaching search. And when Parker has been retained by a bigger school for their AD search, you know Blossom will be considered for that job. Very incestuous. True dat. And then you have situation like BC where Brad Bates "resigned" to go work for a similar search firm! And, I might be wrong, but I believe that search firm was used by Bates while he was at BC.

When a search firm can pay more than the AD at an ACC school makes, you know you are paying through the nose for them to do a Google search for you.😁
How do colleges like Nichols and Clark hire coaches? I doubt they are paying $75,000 for a list of screened names. How did Assumption hire Chesney?
It would be hard for Parker to come up with too many names not mentioned in this Clearinghouse.

MB doesn't have NP's Rolodex. An advantage with respect to Parker is that they are familiar with HC's criteria and emphases; i.e., what TPTB consider to be important with respect to qualities possessed by a successful applicant. They should also be much quicker in doing background screening of candidates than the HR department at HC would be.

Yes ...completely coincidence that the two men I thought looked older were of Irish lineage. Edit: meant to reply to long-suffering. When you need re-assurance that you really don't look that old.... 38 years ago: Another WASP. Forty years ago. What a drag it is getting old.

Sounds like we should develop a new start up Corp called Crossports Coaching Consulting LLP.
Time to strike while the iron is hot. I’m booking a flight to Palo Alto to visit Sand Hill Road groups to raise capital. Anyone want to join the venture?

If you agree with that but not sure how to go about it, I suggest reading "Dig Your Well Before You're Thirsty."

Will there be any rumors flying around regarding the coaching search or will this be like the AD search where the final candidates for the job weren't released to the public.
BTW if anyone knows who the finalists for the AD job were, please PM.

We can always start rumors and see who picks up on it.

Hoopdirt with a timely update, including a bunch of names not yet mentioned in this thread:
I, for one, am glad that JTIII is out of the mix before I had to start worrying about that option.

If this information is correct it looks like we're going with the usual suspect list. Hopefully Kennedy is not a serious candidate for the job the program needs a fresh start not more of the same crap.

Who is “the current Ivy head coach” Must be hard for at least one to figure it out. Can’t be Amaker, or Jones. Donahue ? Henderson ? Hopefully not whoever coaches Brown, Dartmouth, Cornell or Columbia

I couldn't agree more going back to that old well of guys who were all Americans at an SEC School and are now coaching in the Big East is getting really old for me. Where is the fresh blood? #samecrapdifferentgator

Does seem likely. Mass native (Agawam), lives in RI with a young family, probably wouldn't even have to relocate. Presumably we pay more than Brown. And he's got past history with Blossom, and knows that Blossom would be his AD for several years to come. May not have same security at Brown.
Brown is a tough place to win, but his track record there is... uninspiring.
