Very special day yesterday for the Crusaders. Senior leadership from our captains Dom Cozier and Chris Riley ultimately carried the day. Tenio Ayeni and Ayir Asante are clearly special talents. Not sure if people could see that Tenio's touchdown catch was an over the shoulder one handed catch. WOW. . a la OBJ . . !! Defense bent but did not break. Lots of young talent on this side of the ball as well with many sophomores and freshmen getting meaningful minutes. This bodes very well for the future. Jacob Dobbs especially is a HUGE talent. Runs like a deer and hits like the proverbial Mack truck. IMO, the area of our team needing most improvement is our Red Zone conversion rate. www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fcs/current/team/703/p2While the pre-game festivities with family, team parents and friends were great and the game itself was a well played competitive tilt with the good guys coming out on the top, the real highlight of the day for me was the post-game gathering on the field. Seeing the exultation on the faces of our players in the company of their parents and families and surrounded by a large number of alumni who came from near and far was really special. The emotion was palpable. The respect that many of our current players and alums displayed for the the man CTG who gave them the opportunity to play college ball was special as many of these individuals posed for photos and/or shook hands with TG and former assistants, especially Coach Dimichele. By the same token the respect, admiration, and love displayed by our team for our current coaches is very readily apparent. From a personal standpoint, seeing our head coach BC embrace a lady who was wheeled out onto the field in her chair (not sure who this lady is) was remarkable. The love and caring that was on display in that moment was special and hard to describe. With 300-400 individuals milling about for the better part of a half hour, the respect and admiration for everybody involved in the game and everything surrounding it is a memory I will not soon forget. Our Holy Cross Football Family is a very special group. Proud and honored to be a part of it. Still plenty of work to do. On to Lafayette . . . LET'S WIN!! or as the Haaarvards like to say, "LET'S PERSEVERE"

Game wouldn’t end on a safety, would it? I imagine there would be an untimed punt play? I believe it could. The game or a quarter for that matter, can't end on an accepted penalty. Quarter is also extended for the point after touchdown. There's no kickoff if a team scores on the final play of the game. Can't think of a scenario where a kickoff would be required, not saying there isn't one out there. A PAT attempt in that situation is attempted in college only if it could affect the outcome of the game. Dartmouth scored vs Harvard to go ahead, 9-6, yesterday on the final play of the game, no PAT attempted. I think if it made the score 8-6 they had to take a knee on the PAT because, theoretically, the Harvards could have run back a blocked kick, fumble or interception 100yds and tied it up.

67, are you referring to the post where Moose extensively quoted td128?
Your plaudits might be misdirected.
Or, maybe not.😊

When the PL dared defy the Ivies and declare itself eligible for the playoffs (mid 90s, a kick in the groin to the HC teams that were great and couldn't go), there was a caveat that the champion had to be at least .500. I assume that got dropped along the way? It must have gotten dropped sometime before 2013 when Lafayette won the conference at 5-6 (5-1 PL). An otherwise DOMINANT Fordham team lost to Lafayette that year the one game their QB Michael Niebrich sat with injury and also finished 5-1. Fordham made the playoffs as an at-large while Lafayette won the auto-bid. Prior to that, the worst overall record for a PL champ was 6-5 Lafayette who won the auto-bid in 2006 (tied for PL with Lehigh but beat them rivalry week for the head-to-head). In 2017, Lehigh won the conference with at 5-6 (5-1) as well. I am hoping to see 8-4 Holy Cross represent the league this year so the list of teams backing into Patriot League titles doesn't get added to. Is there really a chance this year for an at-large bid in the Patriot League? 6 of the 8 Patriot League teams are ranked 82-104 (out of 126)

I think if we had beaten Harvard or Yale and ended up 8-4, losing the tiebreakahh to whomevah, we might have had an outside chance of an at large...no chance now.

0.0% chance of an at-large this year.
I hypothesized that had we beat Harvard and finished second in PL at 8-4 (5-1) that we would at least be in the discussion barring a collapse by UNH.
However, that ship has sailed. No PL team should even see a top 25 vote this year barring a cinderella playoff run.

If we win out (the regular season, that is) we should be ranked 20-25. Those final teams in the top 25 really aren’t that much better than HC.

Is there a chance that no Patriot League team will finish the season with a winning record? (Sadly) Yes. Possible but unlikely. Lehigh and/or HC have legit chances to win out and finish 7-4 and 8-4 respectively. Even if both of us drop a game, we will both finish above .500. Lafayette can still win the conference outright but can finish no higher than 5-7 overall. Insane. Despite their poor showing in the PL, Georgetown is just a road win over Bucknell away from clinching a winning record. Not even going to speculate that the Hoyas have a chance to win in Worcester to end season (only if we've clinched already!!)

What's with the slow-motion hand-offs from CD to DC? He's holding the football as if it were a new-born baby!

With 190 yards against Lehigh. Dom Cozier has 1,761 yards in his career and is only 55 yards away Steve Buchanan for tenth all time in HC history.

He's also on the verge of setting the single season record of yards averaged per carry. Fennerty averaged 6.3 YPC in 1983; Dom is currently at 6.2 this season. With four games left this season (if we are to include one playoff game) and let's call it 11 games next year, Dom has a decent chance to reach third in all-time rushing. Steve Silva is currently third with 2,646 rushing yards.

Did you forget Domenic is a senior? 11 games next year won't have any effect on his rushing total.

Domenic is in his final season, right? If you figure a very good 500 more yards in 4 or 5 games he could end up in 6th place ahead of Steve Hunt and below the great Joe Wilson. Importantly, Domenic seems on track to become the first Crusader to rush for 1,000 yards in a season since Jerome Fuller in 1991

Oops.
Thought he was a junior for some reason.
Get ready for a lot of Jordan Forrest and Pete Oliver then.

Again, Dom is a great back that is patient, has good vision, and exploits weaknesses. It's just interesting to compare different eras. Fenerty had like 330 yards and 6 TD's against Columbia in the 1980's and Silva averaged 200 all purpose yards per game in 2005 (NCAA Leader)
