Imagine betting the over, seeing that Northeastern scored 101 points and finding out that you still lost. Or taking HC +56....

We looked like a D 3 team playing against a good D 1 team. They toyed with us and got pretty much whatever shot they wanted. At the other end we couldn’t get off a decent shot to save our basketball lives.

Was at the game and left with about 12 mins to go. First, Northeastern is pretty good, maybe the best team in New England. Second, HC was pathetic. No way to sugar coat it. I know Nelson is a man to man guy, but this team will get killed against faster, more athletic teams. Only bright spot was to see Copeland return. FHCBC said he was the best shooter on the team last year. Hope he can stay injury free. He was maybe the only one tonite who did not look totally outclassed. Try to forget this one and live to fight another day.

After seeing this team 3 times, I’d say they have too many players who can’t keep their man in front of them to effectively play man to man defense.

Agree, but I would not drop playing man from our options this season but instead try to find possessions to mix it up, at least until he has a roster that can play m/m the way he wants

Now I've been trying to tell you guys how much value I thought Joe Pridgen would bring to this team......with him we win easy.....
The best thing to do after a performance like this is to get as far away from it as possible, as quickly as possible.
The Navy debacle of a couple of years ago was brought up as a measuring stick. If I recall, they followed that up with one of their better games of the year (at BU). I'm not necessarily expecting that Friday, but I want to at least see a lot more passion.

Oh, and some personal irony.....that little promotion for the students tonight gave me the munchies. Just before I got home, I gave in and stopped at Mickey Ds (which I rarely do).....for some chicken nuggets and fries. They weren't free (when did fast food get so expensive - $9!)!

Not much you can say about this one, totally overwhelmed on both ends of the floor. Northeastern did whatever they wanted on offense and we couldn't run any type of effective offense against them. The way they shot could have won by 75 if they wanted to. Roland made some unbelievable shots but must not be a fluke as he's doing it every game. Was really impressed with the freshmen point guard got to the hoop whenever he wanted to and gave Lowder fits on the other end. Copeland looked good and at least Faw got a chance to bang some of the rust off his game. Nelson certainly has his hands full talent level just not there need a couple more good recruiting years. Wasn't thrilled with the Reilly scholarship when recruited and even less so now, given the apparent talent level of the three recruits it's hard to believe we couldn't have done more with that scholarship. The need for a backup point guard in an obvious rebuilding year made no sense.

First, Northeastern is pretty good, maybe the best team in New England. Pretty good, yes. As for possibly being the best team in New England, I think Vermont, UConn, Harvard, and URI might all strongly disagree with that.

Marquette’s defense was average to poor in HCBN’s final three years in Milwaukee. Just saying.

Northeastern already beat Harvard.

Last year we had JF so the offense couldn't be built around Faw and this year he has been hurt, but I hope he can do some damage in the PL. Wasn't Reilly's scholarship a "use it or lose it" situation at least for this season?

..and NU lost to Umass and did not look good against them (watched it on TV). Probably an off night as UMass barely beat Fairfield.

In their other two victories, they beat BU and Harvard each by five points.

Maybe we wouldn't feel quite as bad if Northeastern was game 1, and Maryland game 4; as in, the team is showing gradual, steady improvement. I just don't think it's going to be that way, either individually or as a team. Great reminder by '87 that, not only are the players getting used to something brand new, so is the coach. If they are playing this way come late Jan/early Feb I will increase my blood pressure med dosage, but for now I'm holding steady. My kidding about JP aside, it would be nice to have all of the players available for a game at some point. One thing I am a little surprised at is our shooting; we should be better. As for D, my gimmick suggestion of the day: when JP gets back, throw a change of pace 1-3-1 in there with him in the back, and KC out front. Just throwing it out there; deep breaths, everyone. As the late Shemp Howard of the Three Stooges astutely proclaimed, "Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither was Syracuse".

They way they played last night, they’d beat anyone in New England. Today, maybe not. I always wanted to see an eight game tourney with New England teams playing in November or December. Many of them play each other already, and it would be a fun event in any of the regions civic centers or the Sun.

New England tourney would be cool, but would never happen. Couldn't even do the Coaches vs Cancer one day charity event because BC didn't want to participate anymore. With so many tourneys throughout the US, and even abroad now, the low and mid majors of New England would rather participate in those than be locked into a local tourney. It is interesting that there are now eight D1 schools in Massachusetts with Merrimack upgrading, and they play in seven different conferences. I remember when Jim Calhoun first started at UConn, he played every in state opponent (Yale, Hartford, CCSU, Fairfield, etc), and vowed to do so as long as he was there and they wanted to play UConn. Then UConn became big and played a more national schedule filled with prominent in season tournaments, invitationals, and prominent home and homes, and those in state games quickly went away.

I thought we were done with that? Yuetter could have filled that role for 6-8 mins a game. We really looked D3 last night. I would like to see Copeland be a starter and when JP comes back, see AB come off bench. One other note, CN is not the same player he was before the injury so far.

Nichols would have played them closer last night. Just sayin’ and maybe just trying to stir the pot a bit.
Look, horrible showing in all facets. Be an eternal optimist, it’ll all get better from here - it can’t get worse. At least it made me feel a little better that I couldn’t make it up to the Hart last night.
I believe they said Kyle had his highest scoring game ever. He looked good and healthy and was allegedly the “most improved player” per Carmody last year. Of course, what did HE know?
Faw is just getting back and did not look like himself- yet. Niego struggling as well. Remember, this is a new coach and new system.
This was a stinker. It’ll get better. This big loss wasn’t all on HC. Northeastern shot lights out regardless of the defense.
Listen to me. I’m the same guy who said when we were down 14-0 against Fordham that the football team could come back to win and they did 49-27.😊
