Thank you, hcalum85. I look forward to seeing you post again next season...when Nelson will still be HCHC, fwiw.

Do not know if this has been posted, but it was really unselfish the way Joe P. passed up some shots toward the end to look for Ryan for his scoring chances

Well, that was ugly from start to finish. No defense to speak of and outside of JP, pretty much the "gang that couldn't shoot straight." A 30 point loss to Colgate? Colgate!
Most, not all, continued to fight even to the end as JP was looking to steal the ball as Colgate was running the clock out on the last possession.
Austin threw at least two "pick 6's" ("pick 2s in basketball) where he threw the ball right to a 'gate player who went the length of the court for uncontested baskets. However, he also threw an in-bounds pass under the basket off the back of a 'gate defender and when it bounced off the 'gate guy, Austin took it for an easy lay-up basket. Heady play. Give AB credit for playing with what looked like a cast on his left wrist.
Yes, the 'gate announcers were either the worst or a close second to the Bucknell announcer. Real homers calling JP and AB for steps that the refs just couldn't see. These were so egregious that they wouldn't even get away with it in the NBA.
Wade just has to take shots when he is open even though he's missed a bunch. His defense is definitely better than the start of the year. He's supposedly a good shooter.
Well, it'll all be over soon enough.

I think we all should stop disparaging the kids on the team. This year has been tough enough for all concerned.

Right about Wade needing to shoot more to snap out of this years funk. I agree his defense is better. I also agree that AB had a couple of passes that were real stinkers - but he played hard to the end (even with a soft cast on his left hand). The announcers were terrible...but they even said art one point they were real "homers." They were honest about that...if not talented or accurate. Watching JP under the boards and seeing how he can get his shot off in there is impressive. He is always double teamed a nd at times had 3 men on him.

I don’t think carrying on this joke that hcalum85 is a Reilly family member is amusing. Given that every post from alum85 relates to Joe Reilly, is it that farfetched to assume it is Mr. or Mrs. Reilly? It’s one thing to clamor Reilly should be seeing the floor more and backing that up with legitimate reasons. It’s another to be belittling a classmate and teammate or Joe Reilly’s as a reason he should be playing. It’s petty and in pretty poor taste. Inasmuch as the Reilly’s are the first family of Connecticut basketball coaching (Grandfather and grand uncle had 500+ wins each in HS, uncle coaches a perennial HS power, and father coaches in a top D3 league, it is safe to assume a family member isn’t posting coaching criticism here.

We probably all need to take a deep breath and relax. Epic frustrating season.....but as bad as it is for us, double that and you are probably at the frustration level for the players. They wouldn't be human otherwise.
Help is on the way. Hopefully the days of a 6-7-8? man scholarship roster will be coming to an end.

Rumour has it per Fatam Breaston that Joe P will enter the portal in March and transfer to Duke. Oy Vey!

While I might not agree with hcalum85s assessment, we have played without a pg for most of league play. Hard to know what takes place in practice, what was promised to Reilly, and the unknown about his status.
With that in mind I understand his/her question and perspective, and also one could ask why Sandy and Hart haven’t received a look? To me that is a decision for Nelson so I don’t give it much thought

At the other end of the spectrum, Faw had six turnovers and five fouls in thirteen minutes. He was visibly upset at game's end, slamming his hand on a chair before joining the handshake line.

I think it is something we should be a little concerned of. You’d like to believe Joe P is happy at HC and excited to be “the guy” for his entire career, but if he believes he can play in the A10 or AAC for a winning program, I’d understand his wanting to do that.

Based on the scores of the games this season, it is obvious Coach Nelson does not teach defense. It's too bad, because basketball games are won with good defense. In addition, I notice the pattern for Holy Cross has been the same each game. That is, they stay within striking range for one half, but get blown out in the second half. Thank heavens the season is coming to a close. If our good players keep entering the transfer portal, HC will never turn it around.

Will posting again and again about the transfer portal option make this any better? Unless, perhaps, you are hoping for just that outcome....multiple transfers.

We are down five scholarship players since last summer, so it’s not exactly unreasonable to surmise that there is the possibility for other attrition.

Using that sort of logic, should we assume with the escalating incidence of corona virus infections that we will lose the rest of the team to infection before the season ends? (I discount the multiple posts from "meat" since I don't believe anyone takes those seriously.) How does posting things about the transfer portal make and possible transfers anything better?

No member of the program has been diagnoses with that virus. But, five scholarship players have left the program since last summer. So, there’s a bit of a theme here.

The more likely personnel changes will be at the end of the bench.
