If there is a college hoops season next year there is speculation that playing your geographic rivals will become the norm rather than all of the crazy cross country type traveling. If there is a 30 game season, we might see the resurrection of some of our old rivalries.

What about those pre/early season tourneys in great places like Hawaii, Jamaica, Orlando and Miami ?
As to old rivalries, coming off a 3 win season, it’s more likely going to be a slew of as many poor/obscure teams as Nelson and Blossom can find rather than ‘old’ rivalries like BC, PC, Uconn and Umass.

A crazy thought and certainly not desired for so many reasons, but
if football is postponed in the fall and we wait until 2021 for football and basketball(Jan 2021) could hoops in the NE go back to some from of the ECAC N, M, S for the one season to solve travel issues. It would be described as a regional OOC schedule so the current league affiliations would remain in place

Anything could occur We would struggle playing those ACC, Big East, A10 etc opponents

With all the D1 teams (of various levels of skill) in New England (at least 21, probably forgot one or two); it would certainly afford schools an adequate number of opponents. You might see a lot of conferences go to the single round robin for a year.

Off the top of my head Maine: 1 VT:1 NH; 2 (UNH, Dartmouth) MA:8 UMass, HC, BU, BC, Harvard, Northeastern, ULowell, Merrimack RI: 4 (PC, URI, Brown, Bryant) CT: 7 (Uconn, Fairfield, Quinnipiac, Yale. Hartford, Sacred Heart, Central CT)
It's such a moving target it's hard to keep track of.
Albany and Sienna aren't bad drives from Worcester either. Closer than Orono or Burlington

I don't think you'll see conferences essentially disbanded for a year, as some seem to be suggesting. Assuming they're playing at all, the TV money is segregated by conference, so conference affiliations are ironclad.
But travel could still be minimized. The Big East, for instance, could essentially just split into two divisions and eliminate the East-to-Midwest road trips.
Even at the PL level, you could see the PL split into a north/south alignment with West Point, Gate, HC and BU in the north, plus pick a 5th... maybe Bucknell? Then leave Lehigh/Laf/AU/Navy/Loyola to a southern division. Maybe even play home/home with each team in your "division", then just once against the other division... perhaps even at a neutral site/midway point. (If there are no fans in the stands, who cares what gym you play in?)
Also possible would be a return to the Friday/Sunday format to flatten the travel a bit.

Why don't you like that format, Bigfan? I actually enjoyed that back when it was in play.

When asked, coaches felt it could be rough to get the team ready for the Saturday game. BUT, it is clearly now a far different world than it was back then.

Just filled out the basketball season ticket holder survey email.
What makes you want to go the game. Opponent was an option.
It had a question about alcohol at the games.
A team book, would be nice. Another Bobblehead giveaway.
Not popular, but I liked the DCU Center game.

I don't know why it's so hard for this school to actually get emails to the intended recipients. Seems like a recurring problem.

Since the kids showed up, its been so tough to make the games, its hardly worthwhile maintaining your season tickets

March 31, I received the email. Received mine yesterday, 04/15/2020 at 4:01pm from: goholycross.activehosted.com@s4.csa2.acemsa5.com; on behalf of; Holy Cross Athletics [holycrossathletics@holycross.edu] Maybe they have such a very large database that they have to send them out in waves.... ! I brought this to ADMB's attention back in February and then got a call from Nick Smith asking me what the problem was. I told him that several BB season tickets that I knew were not receiving emails they were sending out... Apparently the problem has not been corrected.... Suggest you and others who do not receive these emails contact: Nick Smith Senior Associate Director of Athletics / External Operations: nasmith@holycross.eduGood Luck!
