Grew up listening [TV backout] to the Giants games... great names & memories... when Steelers were in town we got tickets from Art Rooney, a close friend of my grandfather... also tickets to '59 Colts & '62 Packers championship games. A big treat was Worcester was outside the blackout area, but it was hard to get a seat in the 2 or 3 TV rooms that were on campus.

I remember watching those Giant game in the dorm. Each dorm (as I remember it) had 1 t.v. room and it was crowded for what we now would see as a very small screen.

In one of those TV rooms we watched Prez JFK announce the US blockade of Cuba. That was when I was in the hall of my elementary school kneeling against the wall with my hands clasped over my head in a bomb drill.

Both of Yankee Stadium's tenants dropped off the face of the earth in the same time frame (fall 64, spring 65). The big NYC winners while I was there were the 69 Mets and the two Knick world titles.

I can't even remember who the quarterback who followed Y.A. Title was, but I can remember Babe Parilli and Gino Cappelletti and Jim Nance, and the players who replaced them so when the Giants fell the Patriots took (most of) their fans over in Mass.

I was a big fan of Morrall—thought he was a good “field general “. He later won two Super Bowls.
I think Gary Wood (Cornell?) was in the mix for a while, a running QB if I remember correctly.
One more- the Giants had a QB named Tom Kennedy who came off some semi/pro team. He was the starter in the infamous loss to the Redskins when the two teams set a record for most points scored in a game. I watched that debacle on Tv

Oh yes, Fran Tarkenton. I was a huge fan of his. You couldn't leave the TV because he might break a death defying scramble on any play. My Giants fandom definitely lasted through Tarkenton.

the UConn fan board has their future schedules on a thread and it shows our 2021 game originally set for sep 2 - now with a new date of Oct 23 - certainly hope that's correct and that game remains on next year's schedule

Interesting to see that URI will receive $400,000 from N. Illinois if their game is played this season. We should be getting at least that much for our game. this attachment shows many of the payouts for 2020 - although our game vs. BC is not included herosports.com/fcs/football-2020-fcs-vs-fbs-payouts-bzbz

Colgate plays two FBS games this year, and the HC-BC game on Halloween is the only FCS-FBS game scheduled that day. I like HC playing BC at peak mid-season form after BC has been beaten up by the big boys for a few weeks. Perhaps there is no guarantee for that game but rather a split of revenues since HC travel expenses are limited to whatever Fox Bus charges for an eighty mile round trip and HC will generate a higher percentage of attendance than most FCS-FBS games.

I think there must be a guarantee payment that HC receives for playing bc.

I think there must be a guarantee payment that HC receives for playing bc. HC’s definitely getting paid. Not sure how much or how it’s calculated. I’ll guess $200K-$250K. It’s attractive for Us because it’s local and excites the alums. It’s good for them because we bring a lot more fans than your average FCS team would and it generates more buzz and local media interest. Once we start beating them, it may not be so beneficial for them.

Not to throw cold water, BUT there may be few / fewer fans at Alumni stadium this fall. I don't know what that means for the guarantee.

I have to agree that fan numbers will be down this season compared to the last HC/BC game. I believe this will still be a good crowd.

If the guarantee amount is both the minimum and maximum the visiting team can make, HC probably lost out at the last BC game when attendance exceeded expectations. I'm wondering if the guarantee is typically a floor that can be exceeded based on a revenue splitting formula. I have never noticed it described that way, however.

My guess is that but would be a set amount, as in “we’ll pay you $250,000 to come to our stadium on X date”

And if HC was smart, and I believe they'd are smart enough, would say look you get an extra 10,000 seats sold when we come. At $30 a ticket that gives you an extra $300,000 before concessions, so instead of the $250,000 you paid Maine, pay us $300,000.
So, no way BC or any other school paying a guarantee, is splitting any gate receipts it's on HC to negotiate a better deal.

So, no way BC or any other school paying a guarantee, is splitting any gate receipts it's on HC to negotiate a better deal. BC - the IA team - has invited HC - the IAA team - to play a game at Alumni. They, like all IA teams, are the boss in this. Like all of these games, BC agreed to pay a guaranteed flat fee. HC has no leverage to bargain the amount being offered by BC. It’s basically take it or leave it and HC would be rather stupid to turn down + or - $200,000 bucks.

Wrong.
There are indeed negotiations involved w/FB and BB games guarantees.
Is it sometimes a "take it or leave it" - yes, but not in all cases, and sometimes even includes things such as accomodations when needed.
