previous falls we had lots of talk about lax and various scrimmages with other schools over a weekend. nothing this year, why ? believe we have to find a reliable goalie as the 3 yr starter, ortlieb has graduated. is the low-profile approach intentional ?

Well, having a freshman anything is always going to be a challenge at the beginning, however the defense has some experience and that should be helpful. Will see how the offense grooves, that will take time with new faces in old slots. very quite out there.

Any word on fogo and spring season? What is fogo, please ? Face off get off. Nickname for a face-off guy who is immediately replaced once a face-off is controlled.

We need to get this thread going again...
Just looked at the schedule. After hosting PC and Harvard (with a visit to Vermont in between), the PL schedule opens with home vs. Lehigh, at Loyola, at Bucknell and back home for Army.
Non-league games with Brown and Marist are in the middle of the schedule, and then it closes with Navy at home, at Lafayette, Colgate at home and at BU to finish before the PL Tournament.
That's a pretty damn good schedule.

we lost a 3 yr starter in goal, and that poses a problem. maybe someone out there has info on whether we have a solid replacement lined up.

Not sure who will win the GK competition but my money is on Jonathan Tesoro who is a freshman out of St. George's (RI). Was on a weak HS team in competitive league (ISL), saw a lot of rubber. All league as a senior. Also played club for Laxachusetts which is best club in New England. Freshmen will always have a steep learning curve esp. going D1 and PL. FWIW Ortlieb had an up and down year last year, like the little girl with the curl when he was good he was very good but... it may not be a huge step back overall. I know Lanigan was a somewhat highly regarded GK out of NJ, competition will be good.

Ok, off laxpower, what we thinking about tomorrows scrimmage. I will be there for the early game against Bryant....I believe Bryant is the favorite as usual in the NEC and about a 18-20th ranked squad.

Thanks for the pics, Brian. How did we look? I thought the defense was slow and Bryant as usual dominates at face offs. They have been doing that for years. I still think the program has a long way to go to get an NCAA bid but a spot in the bottom of the Patriot League tournament should be the goal. I heard the two backup goalies from last year quit the team and they got all freshmen goalies...

Thanks for the pix.
Bryant dressed as if the game was in Worcester in January, Holy Cross as if it were in Florida. Judging by the tans, perhaps that's where some of the team was over semester break.

The freshman goalie will have to make an adjustment with shots coming at them about 20mph faster than what they are use to. How did the offense play and do you know the score or there abouts. Funny I thought it was a beautiful day looking at the pictures until I saw the Bryant kids all bundled up. Love that swag. Maybe The Progam they went through has their skin tough.

I have no clue on the score as the scoreboard wasn't working. Seemed to me through the first three quarters it was like 10-6 in favor of Bryant. The Bulldogs definitely had their second string defense in during the fourth quarter which got the Crusaders much closer. (I couldn't tell you if Holy Cross had brought in their second teamers)
Just my perception that besides Sean Kirkpatrick, that the Holy Cross attack wasn't doing much or standing out.
Freshman Jonathan Tesoro was in goal when I got there at the beginning of the second quarter (there was a MAJOR accident on 290 which slowed me down) and he looked a little slow on reactions to shots.
There was one play near the end of the second quarter (under 10 seconds left or so) the Bryant goalie threw the ball 60-70 yards hoping to catch an attack man. He was able to complete the pass and they set up an easy goal on the unsettled situation. This was a huge mistake by Holy Cross and needs to get fixed before the season.

Arguably, the most relevant sport on the national scene, Agree, but lacrosse is only relevant in some(few ?) areas in the nation
