Good for them. Good for the Patriot League.
They know what they're getting into.

Hail Men of Fordham!
This must make up for the Hawaii game that they had planned. I don't like Fordham but beat the Cornhuskers!

Nebraska ain't what it used to be but really? What is the point besides the almighty dollar. My bet is most schools will be looking at opportunities to get a payday or two each year for football and basketball (for the next few years) to make up for the lost revenues.

The ‘Huskers will pay more than $1 mil IMO - Fordham also has another (low) fbs opponent next fall FAU We play then on nov 13rh in the Bronx so they may be healed up by then

There will be pluses for Fordham (and the PL) from this. I understand the payday and we will hear all about the rush history of Fordham football, Vince Lombardi and the Seven Blocks of Granite. However, I do not see the Rams getting stronger from this. I respect their effort, but this could get ugly really fast.

I don't have a problem with it in hoops but football matchups like this make me cringe. As someone once said, basketball is a contact sport while football is a collision sport. Maybe I am overthinking it but Nebraska is apt to have a host of players who are very big and also very fast. That combo can produce some nasty collisions that you just aren't used to at the PL level. i am just not big on putting football players in that type of situation.

this is a very small pay-out for such a game - routinely FBS Power 5 schools are paying 7 figures - I'm surprised Fordham didn't get more

It is more than HC will get from UConn...but HC, in IMHO, has a better chance to come out of our FBS game with a win.

Fordham will be playing an opponent from a Power Five conference for the first time since 1954, the last season before the program went on hiatus for nine years. As a 7 year old I saw them play that season at the Polo Grounds. I believe the opponent may have been HC.

While not realistic or desired by a majority on the board- what would it require us to do to have a 5 year plan to be in the FBS as a legitimate team-not like UMASS or UCONN, but like Army/Navy?

I'm assuming QB Tim DeMorat will air it out and try to make something happen. He put up a lot of yards against HC's stout (for FCS) defense.

You to loan your billion dollar rolodex to the CAF.🙂 Seriously, I think we would need a waiver for stadium seating capacity unless we moved home games to Gillette Stadium like UMass did for a while. The Gillette approach would only work if we became real good real fast. Fans used to Belichick and Brady did not show up in numbers for hapless UMass football.

Hoops doesn't have the facility or the coach and would need to move downtown for whatever conference games, but Hart would do for OOC-coach tbd Baseball and softball should be manageable I think ? Hockey East?? M/W Soccer, Lax, crew and track real easy to do I am looking for numbers on commitment?

Somebody has too much time on his hands 24 hours in a day and I use 20, so not troubled by the comment Trying to figure out what is needed to make our school better athletically so we can be stronger academicalLy and nationally relevant. The downward trend in admissions is moving towards unacceptable on the approval meter

Fordham will do the whole show up, burn the clock, try to avoid injury, pick up the check, and head home routine. Just like we did v BC - - just a longer trip and a bigger check. I'm assuming QB Tim DeMorat will air it out and try to make something happen. He put up a lot of yards against HC's stout (for FCS) defense. I’m thinking the opposite is true (given the goals of clock burning and injury avoidance in games like this) and I would be shocked if DeMorat plays the whole game. It is certainly true he torched us going 39/56 for 440 yards with two passing TDs this Spring. He even was their leading rusher (I also don’t see him attempting to scramble downfield v Nebraska.) To get an idea what sort of a one-sided affair we are looking at, keep in mind we tacked on over 300 rushing yards v Fordham. Their run defense was awful. Nebraska gained 401 yards rushing in their final game this season (a win over Rutgers).

What school is in FBS has the lowest number of students? Other than that I’m ready and Fitton is ready. Think Fitton would sell out if HC went FBS? 🧐

I'm trying to decide where Holy Cross moving to FBS fits in the "spectrum of implausible events" that we have discussed on other threads. I think it fits in between me winning that Olympuc medal and the Ivy League adding a couple of PL schools.
