Good point--we wouldn't want our players to support the US Constitution One could argue that supporting the NRA and supporting the 2d Amendment are two different things. There are many responsible NRA members but some of its leadership have refused to consider any safety measures/gun regulation in any way, shape, or form. That's why it is best to look at the organization as a whole. Can you name any organization that does not have any crackpot members or leaders?

It will be interesting to see how Notre Dame approaches this new world. Statement from Notre Dame President Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C., on the NCAA’s NIL policy by Notre Dame News July 01 2021 “As I said in an interview with the New York Times six years ago, I support the relaxing of NCAA prohibitions against student-athletes profiting from use of their own names, images and likenesses for one simple reason — other students are allowed to do so. I welcome the decision Wednesday to create an interim NIL policy, and we at Notre Dame will strive to implement it in a fair and organized manner.
“As we enter a period of change and reform in college athletics, I urge all involved to remain focused on the educational purpose of our institutions, and to ensure that any changes enhance the educational experiences and outcomes of our student-athletes.” news.nd.edu/news/statement-from-notre-dame-president-rev-john-i-jenkins-c-s-c-on-the-ncaas-nil-policy/#.YN4gj_SRP4M.twitter

What if a Crusader became a paid NRA spokesperson? Would HC have to grin and bear it? This poses an interesting question. Is there any control from the school if the school thinks the connection will tarnish its reputation. As hinted above, the NRA might not be the best example. How about if a Crusader did an ad for Hurricane Betty's (the establishment formerly known as the Lamplighter)? Does the school grin and bear that? What about being the spokesperson for the sports betting at Twin River? Unchartered territory with lots of unanswered questions

Here's another interesting possibility: the school is sponsored by Coca-Cola, taking a significant payment for pouring rights and vendor availability on campus, and the star player inks a deal with PepsiCo?

/\ I was thinking something similar along the lines of a school with a lucrative shoe contract and the star player(s) now paid to endorse another brand.
Just for giggles I’d like to see a player endorse one of the sports gambling sites.

That would be really cool and I hope it happens. Only because it is currently impossible to get a Coke on campus right now

I think the 2 would be mutually exclusive. Im sure that equivalent happens all the time at pro level. Team sponsored by a certain brand but individual player sponsored by a competitor. Jersey Mikes has a huge presence at Angels stadium in Anaheim. Yet Mike Trout is a spokesperson for Subway...and he's even from New Jersey!

I'd love to hear that Pepsi paid for part of the new video boards, but doubt I will. What exactly does a beverage company pay to become the exclusive soft drink on a college campus? Is it limited to a low price for product or does cash actually change hands?

There's only one choice: Spencer Trappist Monk's Reserve Ale.

Beverage companies pay for pouring rights at schools with a large undergrad pop, draw a lot of fans, and/or get significant exposure. At HC's level, it's likely predominantly discount product with maybe a little cash.
As to beer, it falls to the distributor. HC will align with either Atlas- the Miller/Coors distributor for Worc, or Comsolidated-the Bud shop. At this level, it's pricing on product that drives the decision.

What if a Crusader became a paid NRA spokesperson? Would HC have to grin and bear it? I have no problem with an HC football player...or any other HC person, for that matter...stating that he/she supports the NRA. But if, say, an HC football player becomes a paid NRA spokesman and his connection with HC football is part of the promotional package, that presents obvious problems for our favorite College. Unless HC is prepared to support the NRA endorsement (a highly unlikely proposition, I expect), the College would have to insist that any publicity be stripped of references to HC beyond a statement that HC does not endorse whatever the message is.

I wouldn't worry too much about any HC athlete endorsing a national organization.

Will have to give Jesuit Juice a shot when I see one on the Cape.
Cape Cod Beer gets a thumbs up. So does Bullspit, which is made near The Woo (Lancaster, I believe).

😂 I was sure the “Jesuit Juice” was something our esteemed poster added for grins & giggles. Unfortunately I cannot drink anymore or I’d be making a beeline to Barnstable. Maybe gifts for my Jesuit friends who can still drink.

I drive past Bullspit 2x a day on Rt 117 in Lancaster on my way to and from the office. I believe they relocated (or will be relocating soon) to a new site in Winchendon. Not sure if the original location will continue to operate.

Well, who could’ve seen this coming (a kid leaving high school early so he could enroll in college and start collecting some cash via endorsements)? In this case it’s the #1 ranked recruit (2022) in the entire US: The chance to become that may be here a year earlier than expected. According to Yahoo Sports’ Pete Thamel, Ewers is considering leaving Southlake (Texas) Carroll High School a year early to enroll at Ohio State and begin profiting off his name, image and likeness. Ewers can’t profit off that right now due to Texas law regarding high school students.lettermenrow.com/ohio-state-football/what-quinn-ewers-enrolling-early-would-mean-to-ohio-state/

I found it on tap later at a restaurant in Yarmouth and couldn’t pass it up. It’s good, despite its loose affiliation with our safety school.
