Massey makes Pitt a 14 point favorite (69-55) and gives them a 90% chance for the win.

Pitt has 6'2"(2), 6'3" and 6'4" How should HC respond with their lineup, offense and defense? I hope it's not Ezemma and Allen throwing up shots inside from awkward angles and getting rejected by the bottom of the backboard all night.

Pittsburgh is 205 miles past Lewisburg. Pittsburgh is closer to Cleveland or Columbus, Ohio than it is to Lewisburg.
If the team bussed out today, I feel for them. That trip might require two drivers and a King's ransom for fuel plus a hotel stay and about five total meals. It might have been cheaper to take a charter flight from Worcester airport in the morning, schedule the game for 1:30 or so, fly back afterwards and ask Pitt if an unlikely weather or mechanical issue delayed the flight to play Thursday.
I get the feeling however that college coaches like to arrive the day before and have the team in a bubble for game prep.
The noon start allows for one of those raucous elementary school student games right before Christmas vacation. But Covid has probably put a nix to those events. I hope the team doesn't have to turn around and return home from PA again due to Covid like they did right before tip off in the PLT in March 2020.

Unlike the 1930’s when teams took trains to distant games, for competitions beyond an 8 hours drive time, the budget should always include for a plane flight. Otherwise the game should not be scheduled.

One of the reasons I am not enamored by the current Big East Conference are the number of games required beyond a 8 hour bus ride that require a charter flight. Consequently, to pay for this expense, the ticket price for the average family may prohibit seeing their team live more than once or twice during the season. Add in parking and escalated concession.....

Or is the opportunity to play up a level all the opportunity HC gets?

Add in parking and escalated concession..... The PL has advantages and the OOC schedule this year was geographically convenient also. RF1 mentioned hefty ticket surcharges for the Ryan Center at URI. That's what you get with taxpayer funded arenas so voters can be told they will "pay for themselves". The PL arenas are generally paid for with donations and the donors don't need surcharges in perpetuity to get their money back. I hope the pandemic and rise of universal streaming will bring perspective to the race to build bigger and better white elephant venues for college sports. Colleges should wait until they are selling out every game before they go bigger. Uograded fan amenities - yes if the school can afford it.

I had Bryant this morning and there was lucky to be 200 elementary kids there. I DOUBT there will be the normal elementary day crowd tomorrow with the COVID stuff going on.

Add in parking and escalated concession..... I know Providence MBB tries to charter through their alumni donations for their six BE flights. This article about it is from 2014 friarbasketball.com/2014/03/11/importance-chartered-flights/The charter is mentioned again this past spring in 2021 www.providencejournal.com/story/sports/college/basketball/2021/02/16/providence-college-takes-uconn-big-east-mens-basketball/6768639002/Providence MBB this year has only two conference games on "school" nights on Jan. 26th at Xavier and March 1st at Villanova which needing a charter is used for. Providence WBB plays every Big East game on Friday/Sundays. They have four flights for road games. Seton Hall/St John's in the same weekend is likely a bus for them.

Brian Blaney is mentioned in the second article. He has been an assistant coach for 27 straight years. I admire that.

This game was scheduled primarily to get a game close to home so the family & friends of Cross & Demski could attend. WBB, other than the very top programs, does not generate the attendance or income to justify guarantees.

The vast majority of P5 and even some MM schools (A-10 schools etc.) offer guarantees on the WBB side. It's actually more about Title IX and budget balancing as a department as a whole with Pitt MBB and more importantly FB subsidizing WBB's buy games. Part of it is optics - if MBB can "buy" wins well why can't WBB? My guess is this is anywhere from $15-18K guarantee - maybe more - with some of that made up in room nights for the hotel they are staying at through corporate sponsorships. It's usually enough to at a minimum cover the cost of the trip with maybe $5K leftover.

Expenses - less than $10,000

Announcers point out what's obvious to all HC fans, Pitt at the foul line 12 times, HC once
HC closes to 9 down with some fine passing and shooting
